Hey guys, I'm really new to this and am looking to purchase 2 CDJ-350's and DJM-350 today.

I just had a question regarding monitors and accessories. Is it possible to hook up to a computer speaker set (Creative L3800)?

I know I should probably get some basic studio monitors, but I'm trying to not buy everything all at once and max out my credit card limit.

If the computer speakers are a no, then can you give some recommendations on what monitors I should get? Looking for something inexpensive as I am just learning and will be practicing for a while.

Also, what cables would I need to connect the mixer to the speakers or the monitors?

Look forward to your suggestions!

Yes, you can definitely connect your computer speakers. Most of them have a male 1/8" connecter (headphone jack). So you'll most likely need a male RCA (red/white) to female 1/8" (headphone jack). Just go RCA master out from your mixer to the computer speaker lead.

I say use computer speakers for your main output and record away! Some of us aren't rich like Andrew B...

I just got my first set-up about a month ago and I was about to order monitors. I'm kind of glad I didn't, because the computer speakers I already had are fine for practicing in my apartment. All I did was stick a 1/4" adapter on the end of my computer speakers' cable and plug that into the RCA into the back of the mixer.

I'm not saying they're as good as monitors, but if you don't want to spend $300 on a pair of entry level monitors, then computer speakers will get the job done.

This is what you would need:

EDIT: My mixer has a mono/stereo switch for the master out, which is why I just use a 1/4" adapter. I don't think the DJM-350 has that.

thanks for the advice guys! I got http://www.amazon.com/RiteAV-3-5mm-Stereo-Male-Cable/dp/B001S0LUCI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334714817&sr=8-2

btw, one quick question; I have the Sennheiser HD-202 headphones (http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-202-Dynamic-Headphones/dp/B000065BP9) but I lost the adapter that converted the jack to a larger size; will the 3.5 mm standard size fit in the DJM-350 or do I need to get an adapter?

I am gonna prolly get a pair of nice headphones (Technics RP-DH1200?) soon but like I said I can't buy everything at once.
