Today I was doin some mixing at my house for my friends, and I put my laptop and computer on top of my sub (it is 39" tall, comfortable podium stance), and placed my tops and a couple scanners on tables and shelves, and as I was mixing, I could mix better, being I could feel the beat as I was fading it in before it was heard. That made me think. In home theatre there is this thing called a tactile transducer. Basically it is a subwoofer you put under your couch cushion to feel explosions. Idk much about them, but you could put it on your chair to feel your mix better. Just thought I'd share that

I guess that would work, I didn't know they made such a thing that isn't for ht

Not sure being able to feel the beat would help me mix better, as long as I can here it and keep time im good. If I really want to feel the beat I just turn my sub up a bit more. Its an interesting idea though.

Mixing in a loud club is easier than mixing at home for me because of this reason...i can feel the deep beats more...

Drummers that use electronic drums like them because they can still feel the kick like with a traditional kit.

those are what i had in mind. i can certainly feel the beat with my sub turned up loud, but it'd be nice to feel it at lower volumes

In my opinion it is easy to feel the beat and get your bpms closely matched on even a basic system without a sub. The key is getting your mids and highs to work together on both songs to get a smooth mix. I don't think your idea would help much unless you have a very hard time beatmatching. It would be cool to try out but I don't think it will make much of a difference.

"I could mix better, being I could feel the beat as I was fading it in before it was heard."

You're telling me you can detect the sound wave on the surface of the subwoofer before the sound wave travels three feet to your ears? There's something else in play here if you can "mix better."

No, before dancers could hear it
