So... I decided to give Traktor 2 a try as I have CDJ-900s and wanted to give HID controllers a try.
I have:
Output - Motu AI via firewire
Input - CDJs x 2, NI X1 via usb
Now, I've figured out how to assign the 900s to decks A and B. Is it possible to assign the X1 to C & D to clone and loop over A & B or use different samples/loops on them? (Right now, it also controls A and B).
Then... is it possible to use the decks in vinyl mode as HID controllers?
Where do I cue the next track?
I have sooo many questions.

of course you can use vinyl mode in HID. :) cueing should work like it has always worked except you can now dial a new track directly from the units track selector i you'd like. AFAIK you can use all of the features of the CDJs except slip mode.
1 - Yes it is possible. You would have to map it yourself (I believe) or you could find a mapping for decks C + D online on one of the Traktor mapping sites. I don't know if the X1 lets you map the stock settings (as the S4 didn't) but if you can, all you would have to do is change the deck focus of each A deck parameter to C, and B parameter to D. From there, you can do your cloning or whatever. If you want to just trigger samples with C + D sample decks, I would just map the controller yourself or find a mapping.
2 - It is possible, but HID support in Traktor is pretty shitty I have heard. I haven't used it myself, but Traktor is not big on HID at the moment.
3 - What do you mean cue the next track? Load it? Cue point?

Not impressed yet. Can't figure out how to grab the first beat to cue it up with.

I can load it. Not sure how or where to plug my headphones in and listen to the cue and I don't know how to grab the first beat in vinyl mode.
1 - Yeah, I know, the mapping is damn confusing. Maybe I can help you find one, or make the mapping for you and send it to you so you can just import it. I'll try it out when I have time.
2 - I haven't used HID mode as I don't own CDJs myself, so I don't know what to tell you. Because the HID is pretty bad, it would almost just be better to invest in the "scratch" version.
3 - What are you using specifically for the sound card, and how do you have it setup?

By the sounds of it, he isn't using a mixer.

Don't have the mixer set up in this.

Not the way I have it set-up, but I just guess really.

Awesome!

We'll see... the looping is pretty fun on Traktor.

MOTU Ultralight vs Firewire and 1/4-XLR outs to the monitors.
I'm working on a personal X1 mapping to easily control all four FX banks for two decks in "Native mode" which leaves you with the entire midi page to map however you want... I'll go in and bang one out and let you have it, eh?
Also, I'll check tomarrow afternoon, but I'm pretty sure there is a setting in the Kontrol X1 preference menu to automatically switch the X1 to control decks C&D
P.s. My X1 mapping also has a unique modifier system to scroll through four shift pages on each side with the loop encoder. Also some nice led feedback. I.e. one of the scroll pages is a four-stage master level output in the style of a traditional mixer's. You might find that useful if you aren't using a mixer.
Or you could give me an outline of what you want and I can map it. I actually really enjoy this kind of stuff. :D
