really no reason for this post, just excited to get them. I have played on them a few times, and since I started out with controllerism, then got my CDJ-400's and DJM-800, and now really excited to really learn vinyl. Now my rig will consist of:

2011 MBP core i5
NI Audio 8 with TSP
Kontrol X1
Pio DJM-800
2-CDJ 400's
2 Tech 1210 M5G's
2-QSC HPR152i's
2-JBL MP418SP's
along with some other lights and stuff.

Super excited.. And I am buying a house, so will get to build a custom table, and do my studio.. Can't wait to make my home nightclub

Oh man, I miss my M5G's so bad. Words cannot describe how sexy they are and how fun they are to mix on (just like every other technics!) Congrats on your purchase!

Viva la Technics!

Gracias.. says the white guy. Being I am a vinyl noob, what are the differences, and what makes the 1210 M5G's better than say the M3d's or the standard 1200?

Off the top of my dumb head:
Digital pitch
Greater pitch range
Improved tonearm (I never noticed a difference though)
Sexy paint job + LEDs

sweet.. I did know about the pitch, well read about it anyways. although I might need to get new pitch faders as he said his drift.. I already rebuilt them for him once, but think I will just get new

Good decision! I love my 1200mk2's!!

BTW, does anyone know if you can replace the original 1200mk2 pitch fader with the digital one from the mk5g?

No, can't be done.

The pitch on the m5g shouldn't drift (I think). That's one of the huge benefits of digital pitch, you never need to re-calibrate it.

I could be totally wrong though.

These are the best TT ever made. I love mine. Looked for a long time and got me a pair from pawn shop. Buff them up and they shine. I am looking for another pair to tote around. If I am not mistaken the The Grandmasters are a limited production. Congrats on the pick up.
This thread needs some pictures. I'll place mine on tonight.

Does any1 know which is better for record wear, needle wear and audio quality. Using the anti skip or anti skate on M5Gs?

Testing with the anti skip enabled using a blank vinyl, no matter where I place the needle the tonearm doesn't drift at all.
With it disabled and adjusting the anti skate I cannot replicate this behaviour, the needle will drift either to the spindle, the outer edge of the platter or to the centre point between the two.

I've been favouring the anti skip thinking that it's reducing record wear, or is that wrong?
