I know this is all about personal preference, but I would also like anyone else's input....................If you had $1800 to buy 2 powered speakers and a powered sub, what would you buy? This eq will be used for parties/events etc, so I need power, reliability, quality etc, etc..................Thanks I appreciate any input.........
i like the JBL eon powerd series, Not sure what us prices are though, very reliable and good sound.

well- everyone has a different opinion about the eons. Personally- i wouldnt buy em unless i got them for madd cheap.
The first thing is- i am not a fan of powered speakers. First of all- most of the time- vocals are drowned out (even on mackies) by the low frequencies. Aside from that- they are wayyy overpriced in my opinion.
If you HAVE to buy eons- get the most recent series- the Eon G2. Stay away from the old style grey eon 15 p-1. I just hate those. They are horrible- and i based that on two setups using those style eons.
If you have $1800 for a rig- thats pretty good enough for a passive system- and probably it will end up more powerful than a powered system. Besides- $1800 may just get you a powered system - but im pretty sure a Mackie rig will cost much more.

JBL EON g2s you can get a good deal on ebay for a pair. Maybe add a sub to that and you should be good for under $1800.
lol, why is this called eq?
For future reference dude, it's called a "PA"
which i believe stands for public address, but don't quote me on it.
EQ i know stands for equalization. not hating on you, but just dropping some knowledge.
I think he wanted to use EQ short for Equipment. I'd go with a B-52 Matrix 2000 system, the speakers aren't powered but the sub as a built in amp for the sub itself and the full range speakers. I never liked plastic speakers, just because wood sounds better.

I dont really like the sound of plastic either.. I'll take the sound of a MDF or Ply box anyday over plastic...

all eons have problems. I dont like them. I would get them tho- maybe if they were like $200 for a powered pair and then they would be for backup lol.
