im looking for some good passive subs. something loud, I prefer used, some thing I can easily get more of down the road. im looking to buy two subs, dual sub or a really good single sub. I play pop, rap, edm, and rock. I have a inuke 6000, a peavey 2 way crossover and a dbx 231s EQ. my budget is around $1,000

I'm gonna suggest you build what you need, modern EDM and c-Rap is very demanding on subs and nothing but the latest drivers will do it justice(go low enough) or survive considering how much amp power you have on hand. If you can't build something yourself find somebody that can contruct the cabs for you, I have seen ads advertising just this on Kijiji.

Those Community boxes are trapezoid shaped so they can't be laid on their sides.. something that is a bit limiting for portable use.

I think conanski hit the nail on the head. If you can't find something used (locally), the only way you can do it (and avoid ridiculous shipping costs) is DIY.

With your budget you should be able to build two killer subs. Plain ordinary ported boxes with front firing (modern) woofers is all that's needed. I would suggest woofers with neo magnets just to keep the weight down. The inuke 6000 is a great sub amp.

However, looking at your equipment, the one thing missing is a 35hz 18db/oct (24db/oct is better) high pass filter. This is a must for long term woofer survival. The DBX 231s has a 50hz 12db/oct high pass. It will get you started, but this frequency is too high and too shallow. I am not sure about the Peavey crossover. There are Peavey xovers with separate sub outputs, but they still don't incorporate a high pass filter. Again, this is not an option, so budget accordingly.

Was thinking the same thing once I looked at the specs.

The output in the specs is a calculated output (plus they used rounded off figures rather then actual figures for their calculations) so subtract a minimum or 3db but more realistically somewhere around 6db from the listed spec. For the price, size & weight to achieve these sort of specs there are far better options.

Where in Missouri are you located? I have a pair of Yorkville UCS1B's for sale pretty close to your price range. Nice, efficient horn loaded subs.

Strange. How did you find that second pdf? If you look up the iBox series on the Community website everything in the series is in a trapezoid box.

Cool, yea, they are a pretty interesting company. I have four of their three way horn loaded tops.. RS325 model I think? I rewired them for biamp and have used them for a bunch of gigs.. they are really pretty nice and have good output.
