Hey guys,

I'm brand spankin new to the forums but have been dabbling in music production on my ancient laptop for the past 4 years for fun. I also tried out VirtualDj and really started getting into mixing tunes.

Long story short I've finally decided to purchase a set up but am just looking for some feedback on my choices. I've done as much research as I can, all while trying to avoid moot discussions and sponsored reviews (which seems though for this hobby).

So I'll cut to the chase:

I've decided to go with CDJs as my laptop isn't really high end enough to run virtual mixing software and CDJs allow me to connect my Mass Storage Devices and iPhones.

I've been wanting to run
-2 Denon DNS3700 which I found for 1000$ for both (good condition show room models)
-Allen & Heath Xone:22 250$

- I already own a pair of AKG k701 headphones, which I know isn't the best for DJing due to the open back design, but plan on using then as they are expensive. Until I can pick up new ones

Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a pretty good set up. Do you have powered speakers, a stereo or a boombox to play the music?

All I have right now are my Logitech micro system that I used to use in my PC.

All I have right now are my Logitech micro system that I used to use in my PC.That will work fine. If it doesn't have RCA jacks (Which I'm guessing it doesn't.) you'll need a male stereo RCA to female stereo 1/8" adapter. (Probably less than $10.)

Oh yeah I never thought of that good point.

Thanks...

Are there any other mixers you would recommend? I was leaning towards a Behringer DDM4000 but I heard their quality is questionable and I was weary of a 300$ 4ch. mixer.

What is your budget for a mixer?

Behringer's quality is questionable, but that particular mixer seems to hold up OK for most people.

The Xone 22 is questionable also

I am thinking no more than $1500.00... For my first set up I am going off the Beginners Sticky of "Buy Good Quality, Buy Once"... but trying not to get too crazy...

I wouldn't go for the Xone 22, it is a bit questionable. The used TTM56 is a great choice

The used TTM56 is a great choice :tup:I triple that recommendation. (Assuming you can find one with in your budget constraints.)

In the $500 price range I suggest.

Denon DN-X120

Ecler Nuo 2.0

Vestax VMC 004

Used Rane 56S

for a little more
Ecler Nuo 3.0/4.0

Denon DN X600

Ecler HAK 360

I haven't heard anything about the Pioneer DJM 250, but it is also in your price range

Was also looking at the DJM250 looks pretty decent. How do you guys feel about the 3700s? Been doing as much reading as I can on them and they seem rather versatile.

goodluck finding a ttm-56 for $500. I dont think ive ever seen one in my area for that price.

Get the ddm-4000. It felt solid whenever i played with one in guitarcenter and there have been many people playing on them for quite some time.

I don't know how the market is where you live, but just take a quick look on ebay, you can get them used for $500 any day of the week
