I noticed that most Mobiles these days are going with CDs. Are there still any mobiles that spin vinyl?

oh there are still some out there... have to admit though CDs are a
lot easier to transport from gig to gig
In my 5 years of being in the business, and coming accross hundreds of different DJs and MCs, I have met only one DJ who liked vinyl so much as to transport heavy turntables, and records to each mobile gig.

Alright Cool :) Just wanted to see if there were others out there that <3 vinyl as much as I do. :D
After years of luggn my 1200's and numerous bags, crates and boxes of records all over the state.. I have only recently lost the fight and am only taking my cdj800s from now on...
But there is still hope, my weekly residency will always see me spinning 12s
I love vinyl, but just not enough for my mobile stuf..

VINYL!! gotta keep the original vibe alive, i cant believe you guys would let your roots die that easy, comon show some backbone lol vinyl is why you are djing, and you should share the vinyl experince with the rest of you audience. My saying is, for every gig you do, you inspired atleast 5 people at the party, and they will become dj's depending on the age ofcourse lol... keep the vinyl alive, atleast mix at home with vinyl like DJL lol peace

i do tooo - for the roots and i do too like the feel of vinyl...
Most mobile DJs these days are juke boxes. I work for a mobile dj company in town, and I sometimes bring my turntables along with the company gear.

i think the best set up is a little of each. 1 table/ 2 cdjs, 2 tables/ 1cdj. Best of both worlds. Some releases on vinyl that are not found on cds, etc. I suppose you could just burn the shit, but I still (heart) the analog sound. Peace.

Cd's are sort of must haves for mobile discos, you need the compilations such as childrens party which have stuff like music man on, and you can always download the latest songs of i tunes and burn them to disk (legally) quicker than nipping down the record store! I think vinyl is much better personally just not in this situation

But wait there is hope for all you vinyl lovers (like myself).....
A few months back I saw Mix Master Mike rock a club set in Austin, TX. Dude was using 2 - technics 1200's a pioneer mixer, a laptop, and Rane's Sareto Scaratch (http://www.serato.com/products/scratchlive/setup/). For thsoe of you not familiar with the setup...You use your conventional turntbales and mixer along with a conversion box hooked to a laptop. The laptop stores all of your music files (mp3) and then you place speacially time coded vinyl to play back your mp3 files with your tunrtables. From what he was able to do that night there was no apparent diffence between what you could do with a record and what you could do with this system. Everything was on time and perfect. He was even able to be more creative than a traditional record setup because he was able to change songs just by a mouse click never once having to change the record. Also you instantly have doubles of everything in your library! Saves a ton of money. Plus you could even sample your self and sratch on it. Awesome technology. The price is like around 500 so thats not that bad really.

Serato fuckin rocks - i highly recommend it! Spin those mp3's and vinyl.
Nothing like a crate of 2000 songs stored in a laptop.

As said above alot of DJ's are using Final Scratch ... actually I see about 60% use it when I go out. It is quickly becoming the standard.

I have a pair of CD players but I mostly use my records (95%) during mobile gigs.

mike was using tech's? they must have supplied the tables cuz from what i know he rocks pdx's. he had a rane mixer, serato scratch, and two pdx's
i use serator with my 1200s, i love the feel of vinyl. and to me, CDJs are just way too weird.
