What do you use to transport your gear to gigs?

I'm thinking if I should be getting either a coffin for my 2 decks & mixer or separate cases for each item? Are coffins less safe for transporting equipment or would they be just the same as individual cases? They seem like they might end up weighing a ton and being bulky?

So what does everyone use to transport and store their gear for gigs?

With cases, you'll need a table, too. With a coffin, you'll need a buddy to help you lift the damn thing. The choice is yours...

Coffins are smooth looking and professional, too bad they weigh a metric butt-load. One coffin and a carpeted stand, and there's a clean, smooth looking setup... Two to four cables (power, audio, mic, etc) coming down off of your coffin instead of the usual rat's nest is definatly a welcomed change in the appearance of your setup... Simply put, the cleaner it looks, the more professional the setup will appear.

I'll need a table with a coffin too won't I? What's a carpeted stand? Is it something like this: http://www.topdjgear.com/odyssey-cf3634.html ? And then I guess the rest of the equipment would go into rack units next to you?

if you decide on a coffin, i have one for sale. that being said, i'm selling it becuase it a) won't even come close to fitting in my car and b) is so damn heavy that the guy i bought it from and i almost didn't get it up the stairs to my dorm room...

Aren't they only like 40lbs? That's not a big deal, I don't see it weighing more than about 90lbs with everything in it. CDJs don't weigh that much. Aren't some coffins wheeled too?

Yeah CDJ's are much lighter than turntables. I think we all figured you were talking about turntables.

I'm also selling one. Check the Equiptment For Sale forum for more details. And yeah, they don't weigh too much. The one on sale is only 42lbs.

Slant rack cubes are the best. Mixer and CD controller on top. CD player, MD, surge on the bottom. I switched from the coffin to cubes about a year ago. Now I can carry 2 systems wherever I go. That's good if you have a ceremony in one spot and reception in another. No tearing down and setting back up. When I'm doing a house party, the cube set up works simply because it's smaller and I can fit back in a corner without taking up too much room with my crap.
