got a question for you guys .
I have alot of gear and now i am looking to downsize my wedding rig.
instead of hauling my big rack with mixer and denon cd player i am thinking that this cd mix 2 is a good idea.
lighter and all in one box.
any of you guys try it ????
what you think???

Let me be the first to say Bad Idea. A numark cdmix wont get you very far- which is the reason why dj's here only use them for backup and why those who use it as their main cd player carry two cd mix units.

Sorry ive taken a while to respond. I had guests over.
Anyway- my setup consists of a Denon dn2600f dual deck and an american audio mixer-soon to be replaced with a Pioneer djm3000.
Now, Numark said it is a good product. Of Course they will say so. If you produced something-wouldnt you be proud of it? Numark is not going to say that the cdmix is a bad unit.
There is really no problem with the cdmix if you look at it on a naviss level (no offense to anyone). But, there are features that the cdmix totally lacks. not only that, but, the cdmix is nowhere near professional. The pricetag speaks for itself. You could buy around 2 to 3 of those cdmix units for the price of a decent dual cd deck.
Anyway- i have to back up my argument with facts. These are the features the cdmix does not have:
Auto/ tap BPM function (required for beatmatching unless your ear is trained well)
Sampling
Dot Matrix/Color LCD
Digital Scratching/ Effects
3 Band Eq per channel
xlr out
Those are the things that i can think of of the top of my head that the cdmix2 does not have. Its a good unit to begin with i suppose, but you will soon recognize as many have that the cdmix2 is for no professional- but only for backup. But, thats just my opinion. You can drop $499 (retail of the cdmix2 correct?) for a cdmix2 if you want. A cd player that is worth it is only a few hundred away from that....
Anyway-talk 2 ya later.

Sorry, but I had to jump in here. I'm not a mobile DJ, but I have been to a wedding. ;)

The only thing from that list that you should have is the XLR out. It has one 3-band eq, which should be fine. Most wedding DJ's don't beatmatch (sorry to generalize, but it's kinda true), but you shouldn't use BPM counters, anyway. Color LCD? Digital scratching? Sampling? Who cares? Not Joe Groom and Jane Bride. The CD-Mix2 should be fine for your purposes. Keep in mind it probably won't last very long, and that it doesn't look very professional, IMO.
And I don't quite understand why you wouldn't just rack your dual Denon with a 19" mixer. That's a pretty tidy package if you ask me (though no one did :) ).
I know that it has issues with the right CD player not cueing up CDs. I bought one from Ebay, it had that problem, I researched it on the internet and saw that many people who owned this thing had the same problem... (I returned it and got my $$ back)

Yeah I agree. I bought the CD Mix as well. Withing about a year i had to send in back to Numark to get fixed because the right CD deck would read my CD's. Overall its a good back up unit for professionals, but for just practicing in my room or for little parties its perfect because of its small size. If you're still interested in it I'll even sell you mine cause I dont even use it anymore cause Ive upgraded to laptop and vinyl.

monkeyrobot- what do you mean by rack my denon with my mixer? Do you mean put it in a case? If so- then i do have the two in a gator case.
Anyway- maybe the features i listed arent very necessary, but, why pay $499 for a cdmix2 when you can get a refurbished denon dn2600f for $600 or a new denon dnd4500 for around $550? Its true- most wedding dj's dont beatmatch- but- there are still that do (at least many in my area). I wouldnt buy a numark cdmix just for the fact that it wont satisfy your needs for long. It may be good for beginners or those who are just out to play music, but, as time progresses, wont you want to buy a unit with more capability and an excellent reliability? Those features may be good for now, but, if you are serious about being a mobile dj- that cdmix will not do.
You might as well buy gear thats worth it than to beat around the bush the first time. but, thats just my opinion. Im just trying to say that it dosnt hurt to have foresight. C ya later.

oh. My bad. Sorry. But, yes, it would be good to case a dually deck with a 19in mixer instead of getting a cdmix. It would cost around the same price for an american audio dually deck, mixer and case.

The system I use exclusively for ceremonies consists of a couple of inexpensive table top CD players, a small 8 channel mixer and 2 audio technica wireless lavs. All of it fits nicely into a nylon suitcase made by gator. You can find it at www.gatorcases.com . I sit that bad boy on top of a 29x31 carpeted fold out stand and it's a perfect light weight system suitable for ceremonies. It also serves as a backup emergency system, too.
