- pioneer CMX -3000, DJM-3000 digital decks/4 channel mixer.
- Boss DR660 drum machine
- Numark 1650 vinyl deck
- Peavey PV900 watt amp
- Wharefdale pro SVP15inch (400W programm/800W Peak Power Handling - if that makes any sense)

At this stage I hve only done a couple of small parties, which havent been a problem at all, but i am looking to do things on a larger scale. what sort of venue/crowd could you keep happy with what I currently have. And what is the best way I can improve my setup? I am guessing a sub is next?

I think a sub or subs are a great idea....
I'm just getting started too and I have a Peavey PV-1500 amp and a pair of Behringer 18 inch subs...Let me tell ya,they pound hard....I love em....I got them from American Musical Supply and with shipping they were just over $200 a sub...I bought them one at a time...I almost bought them from Musicians Friend but shipping was like $80 or $90...and only around $10 from AMS...big difference.
Good luck...

Hmmm from Australia eh? Go check out www.cannonsound.com.au(no I'm not affiliated, just found them to deliver excellent service/product and I'm 4000km away in Perth!)
They've got all kinds of sweet gear as well as their own cabs(my subs are nearly the same as their single 18" boxes and are unreal). Behringer subs are pretty good(for the $$$ at least, about $450au ish),just remember to use a subsonic filter or they'll distort a bit
I'd say your gear will do fairly well for small gigs, maybe look into a lighting system/truss set up and some professional casing. You'll be amazed what happens when your set-up looks top dollar to the average joe. They will be asking for business cards real quick!
Get yourself some made up,and see if they can transfer a logo you design into vinyl decals for your cases. Looks quite professional and there are plenty of people who will be looking for that.
As for what you have now,I'd say weddings up to 100 people will be ok(only needs to be loud on the dance floor after all) and I've been to smaller pubs where the DJ only uses one amp and a pair of 15" speakers(yamaha club series-prolly similar in spec to yours).
I've even done small gigs(paid jobs of about 50 people) with a pair of 12" boxes(albeit good ones!) and everyone was happy(old folks). Just boost up the 60-80hz range(not too much!) and use a 50hz highpass and you'll get punchy kick drums and lots of noise(I've used JBL TR125's and made some good noise)

Nekkid belly dancers.

Ordinaily, they would be there, but on this occasion I had sent them upstairs to lube up so I could get a good photo.
