Defected In The Warehouse

The Full Line Up:
Junior Jack & Kid Creme
Copyright
Franky Rizardo

Legendary record label Defected return to the Midlands for a spellbinding showcase in the newly launched Gibb St Warehouse on the final day of March. With spring now fully in focus, its apt that a venue set to act as a chrysalis of new life within Birminghams club scene should be partnering with one of the best established and respected imprints the business has ever seen. A newly restored warehouse space, the Gibb St Warehouse boasts state of the art sound and a beautifully relaxed and high tech club environment that balances intimacy with high end production values. Fittingly the talent on offer befits Defecteds peerless reputation, a sterling cast of names firmly encapsulated at the top of main room house music.

Top of the bill will be two artists who have been at the forefront of Defecteds grip on accessible house music, Junior Jack and Kid Creme. The Belgian pairing remain one of dance musics most bankable pairs, Crème the perfect foil for the production genius of Junior Jack and his catalogue of aliases. The pairing have been ever-presents in the finest DJ booths across the globe since their explosion at the turn of the century, and their inimitable brand of filtered house music remains one of the most potent around. Expect an earth shattering ensemble of beats.

Joining them is another deadly duo, Copyright. Mixing up a ferocious concoction of tribal beats, Latin percussion and belting main room vocals, Copyright make twenty first century house the old fashioned way. Huge main room riffs dovetail with intricate and complex drum patterns, often adorned with a classic song structure to create a sound that is big and clever. Their productions have been dropped by everyone from Pete Tong to Erick Morillo, Francois K to Derrick Carter, with their DJ sets representing themselves and Defected everywhere from Hong Kong to Helsinki.

The final name on the bill is another Defected stalwart as well as someone Copyright have got behind on their own self-titled imprint, Franky Rizardo. The Dutch born tyrant built his reputation alongside the lynchpins of his native countrys scene, exploding after collaborations with both Hardwell and Bart B More. But whilst his main room sound has been picked up on by the likes of Steve Angello, Laidback Luke and Fedde le Grand, hes also shown a musical maturity which belies his younger years (he turns 24 in June), showcased in his ability to warm up the party with discerning deep house just as expertly as he smashes dancefloors later on. He completes a bill of ferocious talent which marks Defected returning to the second city for their Gibb St debut.
