View Full Version : Member name use notification?
I don't think that DJF can notify you if someone uses your member name in a thread. This seems like a basic social function nowadays. I wonder if/how we could have that implemented? Doing so may bring the community tighter.

Isn't this a phpBB board? I would have thought a tagging mod would need to be put into it, but I don't know of any mods that tags will send notifications, could mean merging to a new script all together. Are the owners likely to want to put that much work into this place?
If they were, it would do a lot towards rejuvenating it and may help it grow to become a more active site.
With the last news article being published on 01-30-2014 11:01 PM, makes me think the site owners don't care about the site enough to put the effort into moving forwards.

too busy more than not caring.
I thought that it would be something that the server could simply activate. It's obviously not a big deal.

Yeah that'd be great if you could get notified of tags or quotes. The forum I run can do it so I don't think it should be too hard to implement.
A truckers forum I belong to notifies a member if someone quotes one of your posts. That forum uses XenForo software. I am pretty sure its just something that software offers. I am not sure if vBulletin offers notifications like that (&/or what your suggesting) or not.

So, the links are just saying that vBulletin already offers this option, it just needs to be implemented (the box checked) by admins? (sorry I'm not a real bright tech guy so I dont understand a lot of this programming stuff)
Lets see.. @Baller95

Yeah, pretty much! I'm not sure how it'd work for names with spaces though @Dixieland DJ
