For EDM/commercial dance music please??????????

I don't want to go into a forum looking for house just to find a load of EDM crap, same goes for the electro forum etc.

EDM/Commercial is big enough to have its own forum rather than them cluttering up the other sub-forums.

I second this request ... After all EDM has it's own following :)

House, Electro, Dubstep, DnB, Techno, Trance, NuDisco, Glitch, Acid, Trip Hop, Gabber, Jumpstyle, Moombahton, Tribal, Rave, etc. are all subgenres of EDM. So I don't see the point of having a separate section for EDM, since we already have several EDM subgenre sections.

whilst technically you are right by definition, i think as a rule 99% of people associate it with the whole "guetta/aoki etc etc" style commercial dance sound.

Yeah, just about anyone who is not into EDM disagrees with you.

EDM means cheese dance music.

If I say EDM to anyone in the clubs I go to they would think exactly what marc said, aoki etc.

Can we please get this? When I hear house I think adzm's music.

Some place where the youngster's can post their music.

Yeah I am with that idea. I don't think any of the members who are into that type of music would object either as I've seen loads of questions about EDM tracks posted in various sub genres (house / electro etc) without reply- purely because most of the people browsing those genres are not into EDM.

A separate sub-genre would suit both parties in my opinion, a win for all.

Agreed.

I know people have their lives etc and busy, but it would save all of us a lot of bother I think.

Absolutely agree with Adzm
What has all this crappy bigroom EDM special waste to do with electro? I doesnt even have a lot to do with real house.
Please build a special playground for drops, pryda-snares and wobble basses. The realm of the dynamic compression and complete bro-ness.

im going to forward the idea to the admin, however, there will be a special rule,

the 1st post any of you (i mean you adam) that hate on EDM make in the sub forum will score you an instant lifetime ban, if its in there, there is zero reason for you to go in unless it is to shit talk.

What if it's me in a few years from now? Lol jk that won't happen but yeah I think we should implement this new sub-forum

nobody even posts about that shit in GD these days anyway. the mix section i just scroll through and pick the ones i want to listen to, if they don't have a tracklist i just ignore.

this forum is diluted enough as it is, sometimes there isn't a post for 2-3 days, we need to be encouraging more members not splitting up the ones that already exist

and i play some commercial tracks in my sets (seeing as Deep House is popular now) so does that mean I'm banished into there. or are you going to start cherry picking what is commercial and what isn't. if Deep House takes off properly in America that will be what they call EDM

Some people already refer to anything electronic as EDM, but its basically anything charted, chainsmokers, aoki, skrillex all that.

I'd rather not have to sift through 50 posts of wank to find one good one.

Sigh

America is not the rest of the world mate, no one ever said EDM anywhere outside of the US until a few years ago.

And TBH W, I am not sure why you are claiming that unless you have missed the countless discussions we have had going over this. It is a yank journalist term that has been picked up.

Now if you don't agree with the new subforum, fine, but don't derail this thread with your playing devils advocate BS pls. Take it to general if you want to rehash it.

It was just colloquial called Techno or Dance back in the 90s in central Europe. And not every electronic music is meant to dance to (Ambient, Drone, etc.).

Actually, what exact subgenere is that "EDM" (Aoki etc.) to assign? Electro-House?
And what exactly does Electro-house have to do with Electro? Why should that be in the same subforum?
Edit.: Electro would be more sensible in the Hip Hop subforum than in one with electro-house.

Adzm00
02-14-2015, 12:45 PM
Exactly.

And instead of taking over existing genres, electro-house (which todays isn't like it), electro, prog house (which it is nothing like), we might as well separate it into what it actually is, commercial dance music, because that is what it is, if they want to use the umbrella term EDM then so be it.

It's gotta be new to be EDM.

If you hear it and it sounds like EDM... it's probably EDM.

Everyone else who listens to other genres? They know what it sounds like.

Don't pick apart the post, you know what is and what isn't.

Adzm00

Than why not advocate for a CDM forum?

Because the forum is majority American and thus we may as well cater to them, plus the fact its journalistic use is now outside the US.

i think its a great idea

im not as connected with the dance music scene as i once was, to know if this is feasable but if it is, im all for it
its important for the forum to reflect the distinctions that music enthusiasts and DJs make within the music
