View Full Version : Why British is Best!!!!!!!
This is gonna start a huge trans-atlantic row, i just know it is, but here go's.
US DJ's are among the best in the business when it comes to clubs but do they have a clue at mobile DJing? I have this theory that booking a mobile disco in the States is not big business like it is in the UK, because i have yet to hear a good one or agree or understand any of there ramblings on this or various other DJ forums. A mobile Dj should be able to entertain there crowd with the tunes and there wit and wisdom, be able to read a crowd to fill a dancefloor and not only rely on requests and playlists. All you ever here off US mobile jocks is wether they can mix the tunes they have got or have to play or what should they play at the wedding they are about to do. I admit you get some UK jocks that are the same but they usaully are using hired gear to do a relatives wedding and have never spun a tune outside of there 4 bedroom walls.
I cut my DJing teeth doing weddings and they are a great learning curve for all types of jocks, they teach you so much and will either make or break you.
It might be different cultures and booking a DJ might not be a big thing in the states when you have a wedding but surely if you want to make a living out of it you should try to get it half right!!
I apoligise know to the US jocks who have got it right a nd i am prepared to offer a US mobile Jock the chance to come over to the Uk for a week and see how it is done over here (Accomadation supplied) then i will come to the US and watch you in action.
Then we could post a week long thread on this forum so everyone could read how this experiment gets along.
Anyone up for it.

yea I think chris fortier was big in the wedding business...that really shoots you up the ladder fast here. :lush:
Did anyone really read this or are they reading what they want to really believe to keep the peace!!!
Asw for less type more practice Chile, did you read pass the 1st line?
I read it all and I repeat :uhoh:
I have no idea what you have based your stereotypes of UK and US mobile Djs on but as far as I am aware it is entirely unfounded. Most mobile Djs on this forum are in the US and seem to me to have good idea what mobile DJing is all about. However, almost every mobile DJ Ive seen in the UK has done a lame and half-arsed job.

Typical response from a BEDROOM DJ !!!!!!!!
I am a bedroom Dj and am not ashamed to admit it. What you need to admit is that your post was totally unfounded. Its really is ridiculous to stereotype Djs like that based on their nationality and you've done nothing to convince anyone otherwise..
You obviously didn't read it properly did you, how can i be accused of stereo-typing people when i said that not all US mobile jocks fall in to the catergery i was on about and i also mentioned that some UK jocks have the same problems.
Why don't you come down and do a set at one of my gigs then you will be able to see were i am coming from.

I'm sure if you are willing to provide a plane ticket and accomodations, there would be many people who'd take you up on this offer.
Tip:
Get your post count above 5 before you come onto the forum and start making an arse of yourself.
People may listen then.

Even you started with a zero count, but forums are for opions and that was mine, you may think my next thread is a good one and vice versa, and if you read the thread i did not have a go at an individual like some others do but the whole scene.

It's called gaining a bit of credibility before going on a rant about your personal opinions of other DJs. Maybe if we knew a little bit more about where you are coming from we could take it a bit more seriously.;)
DJF is a bit different than most forums on the internet. Alot of us do know each other in person and we are alot more personal and professional about things.

I am from the US and I am better than ever UK mobile DJ.
So, this is how it's going to go. You fly me over to the UK and I'll spin at your gig, then you can fly over to the US and see how the pros do it.

 yes I played the meet and I'm playing out this weekend too - but I'd still call myself a bedroom Dj because I DJ as a hobby not a profession - also because I was bored of arguing with someone who was yet to present a decent argument.

Bibby, you don't have a clue how its done here in the US.
What happened t0o all the UK DJ's on this forum? I spoke to one who pm'ed me and understood what i was trying to say.

Sorry man, this is not your thread. We ate it. Let it pass ok?
Bibby, if you are just trying to do a DJ exchange you are going the wrong way about it.
Peops please ignore Bibby, his views do not represent the views of the peops from the great island. :)

why don't you take video of one of your amazing wedding gigs or whatever. I bet we'd all be freakin' amazed, and the time you spend setting up a simple video recorder with be well worth it. think of all the people you'd set straight.
I'd say this offer/plan is 100x more reasonable than asking someone to spend hundreds of dollars to fly out to the UK and waste time with some guy that thinks the average US mobile DJ sucks.
