Any truth to the MSRP being 2199 (I know the street price will be lower)? Because that puts it at about the same MSRP as the Rane 62 and I can't understand why anyone would get the 57MK2 over the 62 if they're the same price.

I still think the 62 & 64 are better choices.

Really depends on what you use the mixer for. I have the 57, 61, & 62 and plan on getting the 57mkII ASAP. The layout of the 57 is just amazing and the sound quality is pretty darn good compared to the 61 & 62 which clip like crazy. Granted I know how to get around that since I watch my levels but with the 57 I rarely even needed to adjust. The 61 is really a watered down 62 and even a watered down 56. I use it for club gigs since I don't need efx and all those cue points at my finger tips. The 62 is my mixer of choice when I do my mixes since I do use the cue points and efx on them. The 57mkII has that layout that I like and the dual sound cards is a plus in my book.

AGIPro has them for pre order at $1749US. So it sits in a nice sweet spot between the 61 and the 62.

its basically for the guys who will not leave SSL because they are stuck with the 57. Rane just made it easier for those hard core guys to upgrade to the new software, and not leave the mixer the know and love.

There are some good deals out there on this mixer. Same goes for the MP2015.

I've noticed a number of 62's being offered for sale as low as $1,200 since the 57 MKII and the new Pioneer mixers are on the market.

For the longest I was under the impression that the 62 was the end all of 2 channel mixers with a built in Serato Box.

What's everyone's thoughts about this trend that I'm seeing?

Most djs are like little boys or girls at heart and don't want the next guy having something newer than they have. So they will switch mixer just so they don't feel left behind.
The 57mk2, and the new pioneer one are decent alternative, so won't really change how they mix or play.
You see it at the moment with traktor stems. Stem this, stem that. Mixing a track was fine but now everyone wants to use stems.
