I'm looking for a mirror ball with lights and motor. Probably a 12-16" ball. Any advice on a decent set up at a reasonable price?

What a decent price? $50, $5K...

Mirror ball + motor + scanners as a light source.
16" mirror ball and motor can be bought off ebay for next to nothing. $50-$100

I agree that scanners would be a great way to light it up but at this point my budget only allows pin spots. Now I was thinking of going LED but am wondering if anyone can suggest a good LED pin spot? My budget is no more than $200 for ball, motor and 2 lights.

If you spend $100 on the ball and motor you're left with $100 for 2 lights.
There are no led fixtures worth buying for $50 each.

Please, don't forget to buy a good (soft or hard) case for the ball.

Eh, you can find some decent LED pins for cheap if all you're doing is lighting up a mirror ball with them.
I always kept my mirror ball in a well padded cardboard box simply because it wasn't a huge deal to me.

Again, check out Ebay. There are some decent packages of Chauvet gear on there.

Thanks. That's great. I'm also planning on possibly mounting the lights on my speaker stands. But I need those plastic sleeve adapters that make the diameter of the pole 1.5". I found one for On Stage stands but I don't think it will work. A fellow member posted a picture in one of my other threads (Mobile DJ) about karaoke monitors that showed one that he used. I have Musicians Gear stands but am having trouble finding a plastic sleeve that will work.

Have you speakers got M8 or M10 mounting points on them? I think its American DJ or Chauvet that make them but BriansRedd - YouTube - mentioned them - they make it so you can either mount lights on the speaker pole, M10 points or put a tube between two speakers using the M10 points and the unit. Hopefully someone can link you if I don't find it..

Or if you only have the two pinspots, you can get a bolt and just mount them directly to the fly points, without mounting a pole on top of your speaker.

Is this what you mean by "sleeve?" http://www.amazon.com/Chauvet-CLP-10-Pro-Clamp/dp/B0002D035C

These are pictures that DJF Member VJQue posted in another thread. He says they can be found at Lowes or Home Depot but I need help figuring what what they are called or if I can indeed get them there. I PM'd him but haven't heard back.

Just looks like a pipe sleeve with an O-clamp on it.

You know you can get some ADJ O clamps in sizes 1inch, 1.5 inch, and 2 inch right? Will none of those work for what you need?

I ordered some 1.5" ones but they are a little loose when attached to the speaker stand. I believe its because the stand is 1-3/8" so I am looking for these "spacer sleeves" so the clamp will stay where its supposed to.

You can always just get some Gaff Tape, or electrical tape, cut them to size, and stick them to the inside of the O-clamps. \

Most of my Chauvet O-clamps are loose too.

I do like that setup. Is that yours? Another issue I will need to tackle is how to extend the ball out from my stand like it is in the photo. Any ideas?

Can you tell me what lights are on there? I really like that setup.

I think that is what I will end up doing. I think I saw somewhere someone mention using rubber bands too. That might work.

LED Zipper from ESC, Chauvet Eclipse, ADJ Tri Phase, Chauvet Insignia. I use 2 Chauvet Intimidator, LED color changers on the mirror ball
