Alright, so I have come to the conclusion after reading an informative post by KLH here (http://www.djforums.com/forums/showthread.php?2721-The-Official-DJF-Beginners-MEGA-Thread!) that what I actually want to do (for now at least) is learn how to produce music, as opposed to DJing. Is DJF still the right place for me? Or should I just gtfo?

Let me explain how much I know about producing music, and then someone could tell me just where to go next; I understand that you want to drag and drop loops and samples (unclear if I'm supposed to go on a Google hunt for free samples) into the work space and that's about it...

I mastered Photoshop with the help of the internet and tutorials, but I'm finding a huge lack of information about music production... :/

Thanks for helping me out fellow artists!

We have a whole production and recording (http://www.djforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?7-Production-and-Recording) sub forum. You should stay!

Go for it man. When I started Djing I started producing at the same time. After about a month I turned my focus from Djing to production with djing just on the side. Sure glad I did and to be honest I have noidea how dj's can't convert to producing after dabbling in it.

Producing is in a completely different category. It really is something else compared to just mixing.

If you're like me and "DJ" production hardware (samplers, sequencers, synths) that is known as Live PA. check out livepa.org (http://livepa.org), although it's a little quiet over there, but tons of info.
If you are solid into studio work, recording and mastering, check out futureproducers.com (http://futureproducers.com).
Stick around here, tho. There is a production section.
These days the lines between DJing and producing are blurring rapidly.

Hi, ajit.

We have a very talented production community here at DJF. Also, once you start producing you may even decide to pick up DJing as well; I've seen it happen to many people before you!

Get yourself acquainted with our forums; I'm sure they'll be immensely helpful to you.

Welcome aboard!
