Chauvet Black Shadow 400W black light

I have a Chauvet black Shadow 400w black light that doesn't work properly anymore. They don't make them anymore. It hasn't worked for a while, it's been in storage. I want to either fix it or trash it. I'm wondering how to tell if it's the bulb or the ballast without buying a new bulb ($55)? The bulb is expensive and I don't' want to fork the dough if and then find out that it's the ballast. I never used the light much probably honestly a maximum of 15-20 hrs. The light attempts to light when plugged in, it glows, but not brightly and never, no matter how long it's plugged in, ends up producing any black light. Thanks

Sounds like the ballast. Try calling Chauvet service and see what they say.

"call chauvet for service" - that's pretty funny. I've never had luck with chauvet customer service. I do like their products... up until one breaks

So I called them, the guy I talked to didn't know. Someone else is supposed to give me a call. Still waiting. I'll call them again today.
