Here's the first of two refurbished Technics 1200 MK2 turntables. I've had these for about 20 years and they needed some work. I decided to do the repairs myself to save some $$.

Fresh paint job, new tonearm, new tonearm base, new pitch control with center click removed, blue strobe led, blue 33 indicator led, yellow 45 indicator led, new white pop up led, yellow pitch led, new pitch decal, new rcas, internal grounding.

The second one is still at the end of the painting stage and just about ready for reassembly.

Looks nicely done Steve. I just don't dig the yellow-mustard combination. :)

The color combination is... bold. But everything looks very well-executed. If that's what you were going for more power to ya!

I want to Refurbish my 1200 MK2's... Does anyone have that link from a while ago that has the step by step on how to do this. There use to be a very good site out there thats step by step and I can't find it anymore. Please and thanks :)

Love it, I wonder how they would look with the blue with red technics logo slipmat dskreet has for sale? Probably pretty good!

Nice job, i like mustard. Just a question though how did you spray the platter yellow and maintain the shiny steel finish on the rim and the dots? I want to do the same and wondered if you sprayed the whole thing and sanded the paint off the outstanding edges?

Really nice work! I was thinking about doing something like this with my turntables. I'm curious, how did you actually complete the process? Could you give like a step by step with the paint you used and stuff, or point me towards a tutorial?

Edit: Also, did you paint around the Technics decal? Or did you get new ones?

While the color combination isn't for me, still a very clean job!

I'm curious as to how the decals were done too. Very neat.

Decals can be printed on decal paper, applied to the deck and then clear coated. Not sure where you get the logo / design from though. Photoshop?

Ah, okay that makes sense. I guess I'll have to find the logo online somewhere. Are they decals on regular Technics or are they painted?

its more like a silkscreening i think vs painted or decal. although one could argue its a "painted on decal."

Interesting. Would the decal be like one whole sticker or would the letters etc be individually stuck on, as it were? Hopefully OP replies some time I guess. It's a really nice touch.

The logos are decal type stickers. I got them from a place called Pimp My Decks, found them on Ebay. Laid them down after several coats of the base color and then put several coats of clear over top of them, so they are sealed in between the paint.

Someone asked about the platter dots and for a description of the entire painting process, I'll have to get back on here when I have more time and go through all of that (I'll try to get to that this coming weekend)

Dave The Rave, thank you for your tips on some of the electronic issues I was having. It all worked out in the end and I learned some things in the process.

If you could write a tutorial, even if it is just a brief one, I'll make sure to rep you. I am really interested in doing my decks, but I just don't really know how to go about it.

How mind-numbing is it to paint the side of the platter?

a bit darker blue would've been a lot nicer, but I like it. blue and yellow go together quite well
