Well, I'm looking at buying the Numark Mixtrack or Mixtrack Pro
The only difference I can see is that you can scratch on one and one has a soundcard.
But what benifit does having a soundcard in the controller have? I mean I plug it into my computer and my computer has an internal sound card? Or does the controller need one as well?
Thanks for help, this is my first buy so I'm a little confused at the moment!
Good question, Peetah (love the name, BTW). The difference between the Mixtrack and the Mixtrack Pro is the sound interface in the Pro. They are both controllers in that they send signals (called MIDI) to the computer via USB to control Virtual DJ. In turn, Virtual DJ needs to send TWO stereo outputs to a sound interface - one for the main output, and one for the monitor/headphone/cue output.
Your computer undoubtedly has only one stereo output. You will need at least one more stereo output. To get the additional output, you need to realize that (keeping it simple) sound apps can only use ONE interface at a time. As such, you'll need to buy a sound interface with at least TWO stereo outputs so that VDJ can use it. The Maya 44USB is a popular choice, BTW. Hey, I've got a better idea. Why not just use the sound interface in the MixTrack Pro?
THAT is why there's a MixTrack Pro.

In a nutshell:
1. you can either get a controller with an internal soundcard, or
2. you can get one without, which would necessitate purchasing an external soundcard
If you go for a controller without a soundcard, I would recommend the NI Traktor Audio 2.

Thanks for the answers
Ok, so I will
Plug Mixtrack into PC
Speakers into PC
Headphones into Mixtrack
or both speakers and headphones into mixtrack?
I currently have speakers into an amp then that amp goes to my PC via an Optical Cable, however the AMP does also have an AUX input

But I guess I'll need a soundcard in case I go on my laptop or something!

Headphones and speakers will need to plug into the Mixtrack Pro. If you go with the Mixtrack, then headphones and speakers will be plugged into whatever external audio interface you get.

Humm, ok still not sure whether I should get the pro because most the time I'll be on my PC where I can plug it straight in but I might take it and plug it into a laptop so I'll need a soundcard on the mixers, I guess an extra £30 is worth it.
So thanks for all your help :)
