View Full Version : YES!!! I am bringing it up again. Set a limit prior to submitting Mixes.

diceallion

Ok, seriously, today alone were up to 13 (which probably isn't even a record breaker) mix submissions, outta the 13 only 2 have more then 5 posts. I wanna see submissions from contributing members... I don't wanna hunt through hundreds of them to give the proper respect to the ones that deserve it!!!

IM GOING ON DJF STRIKE!!!

We have limits on the classifieds, limit the mix submissions. It's a legitimate request!!!

I dont even go to mix submissions (etc) sections but I know this is a problem, so I voted yes. I agree that there should be a 60 post count (just like the classifieds) before you're allowed to post a mix... of any kind... in any section.

The only catch is tho, I dont wanna hear any whinning when cousin Jim Bob OR Sally, your steady lay, comes on here & someone wants to make an exception.... cause "his got good stuff" OR "well he was here before when it was DJF1" Or "well he posts good helpful stuff".
I say make a rule for that as well.

So yall make up your mind if you want the minimum post count to be 5 posts, 10 posts, 20 posts, 50 posts, 75 posts or 100 posts etc..

diceallion
05-13-2014, 11:34 PM
Dixieland, thank you.

Yes I completely agree with the argument you raised. A rule is a rule, no exceptions should be made regardless of the situation. I understand that there are members from the previous version of DJF, where the post count did not carry over, but if they were active members, I'm sure it wont be long before they accumulate the required count.

I'm not aiming for 100 posts here, but at least a decent count where the member has actually taken the time to meet and greet. If the classifieds are set to 60, then I think 50 would be appropriate to submit a MIX or TRACK...

Not only that, think about how much better it will be for the forum as well, I honestly have no idea how the "bandwidth" or "space taken" works, but it will reduce the amount of DATA dramatically.

I would definitely like some of the senior members chime in please. I've said what I had to say, I would like to see a change.

Baller95

We'll listen, I would like to see at least a crap load of voters in on this poll 1st, then I can make a new poll with post counts... This way we all don't argue on how many it should be and the highest vote wins... Clean simple argument free.

Dude, judging but your post count and date of registration it probably took you about a year to get to 100 posts. I know you've been on DJF 1.0 but that doesn't count. I think 100 posts to submit a mix is unfair and I think at that point we'll start losing members.

Sigma
05-14-2014, 11:02 AM
20 would do it. You just want to stop people rolling up here to dump their mixes. People would be able to spot if someone is just making random, shitty posts to hit the target if it was 20. 100 is too restrictive IMO, but realistically, there's no reason why someone can't make 20 posts in a short period of time.

DYM

Irrational_Fear
05-14-2014, 11:58 AM
Another 'yes' here too.

I reckon 20 would be fine too. As has been mentioned 100 is rather restrictive. I can't see there being a problem with people spamming posts to hit the limit either- a lot of the first-post-mixes don't even end up in the right section which suggests to me the amount of time people are willing to put into posting up these mixes is pretty minimal...

diceallion
05-14-2014, 12:32 PM
20 sounds logical. If I was a drive by poster, 20 would discourage me... If I cared to talk and make friends, I could hit 20 in a few days.

20s a good number to limit at.

Not gonna lie, I first joined with the aim of just submitting and giving the odd bit of feedback until I realised how this place is full of amazing people who would never bash on anyone about things like their taste in music or where the industry is going.....

20 woulda definitely deterred me so I reckon that'd work.

I'm chiming in late... but I voted "Yes," and I would set the bar at fifty posts.

Twenty is okay, but you'll still have jokers who decide to drop twenty fast and crappy responses in the first hour or so just so they can start posting mixes. Fifty is a more sufficient hurdle, and yet far from impossible after a day or two of contributing to the forums.

Either of those is better than nothing.

Again, its been addressed before. Be patient & wait for an answer. Becoming annoying isnt going to get you the rule added. You (as many have) have addressed your concerns here. If admin wants to add this rule, they will. If not, it aint gonna get done.

Agreed and voted accordingly.

Too many 1 post noobissimal mixes, "listen to my very first mix that I made on my very first controller ever bought 2 days ago (2 days ago being either christmas or birthday) and figured out how to record 4 hours ago" . Then you get a link, no description, no tracklist, no genre, horrid music and last but not least no skills.

Then it has been previously discussed many times and nothing has been done. I know that somehow I shouldn't moan because this is a free for all forum, but like all places, you need to take the trash out. 60 posts and a month, how difficult is it to implement.

Baller95

This site has 22 mods. Most of them are virtually never here.

What's the point of reporting threads when the mods don't bother doing anything? I see 2 or 3 blue names in the active user list pretty much constantly.

I am here as much as I possibly can be. I am usually here several hrs a day... every day. The problem is, I only moderate about 4 or 5 forums... as do most mods. We have a few Super Mods that are allowed to moderate all forums.

My forum sections are: mobile, beginners, general, off topic & classifieds.

As for the subject of this thread, which are the mix submission type forums... I do not have mod powers in those forums. Again, most of those 22 mods only moderate a few select forums. We are usually assigned general or specific forums depending on our related subject matter.... things where we are most experienced in. Some are given Super Mod powers because of their extended experiences in many aspects of the DJ industry as well as other things like programming etc where they can "assist" & give knowledge with the site programming etc. However, they still cant make changes in programming... only give input to the admins, assist in programming ideas etc.

So, in short, while we may have 22 mods, not everyone of us can assist with problems in every forum section. Would I be interested in being a super mod to help in all forums with general issues such as spam, cross posting, people posting mixes without 60 posts, posting in the wrong section etc, etc? Yes, but I assume we have enough super mods here who participate enough to satisfy the admins. I know KLH, Andrew & Marc are here quite a bit. I think both of those are Supers & both do an excellent job, both out front & behind the scenes that most of you regular members never see or know about.... as do some of the other mods & supers.

I hope this helps some of you better understand how it works.

Its not my intent to conflict either of you but just to inform. Actually, KLH is a Super Mod. If you go to "quick links" at the top of some pages & choose "site leaders" from that drop down window, then scroll almost all the way down (second to last section) you will see the section for Super Mods. yeah there definitely needs to be a couple rules added on how to keep moderator status, or at least enforce the rules already there (not sure how the moderator selection or deletion process works). it specifically states that moderating power is given to people who are helpful in the categories they moderate. posting nothing for a long time isn't particularly helpful.

All you have to do, Dice, is answer this simple multi-choice question: -

Q. If a user's mixer is having issues with the sound quality, causing an unwanted static-like popping, what could the problem be?

A. Their crossfader curve is set too sharp, causing unwanted popping.
B. The popping is introduced after the audio leaves the mixer.
C. They have the wrong type of carpet.

SOOOOOO.....seems like we are getting fewer spam bots but its still going through a bit. ie - can't post a mix in mix submissions, but its a trance mix so I'll just post it in trance stuff going on but overall way better.

cant stop people posting them in other areas, its inevitably going to happen if the subs is closed to them,

Im in favor but 100 positive rep points??

This will take a long time. ppl dont usually rep so that much. Just post limit, i dont see rep limiting anywhere else.

neg rep

What I meant was if you have something real constructive to say, sometimes the right people that would rep you is all you need to reach the quota. It kinda sucks a little, but it is what it is.
