Hey, it has booth outputs, TWO source inputs, AND two mic inputs. Not bad.

This is a worthy upgrade from the VCI-300. I question the MSRP, but admit that there's a lot of great stuff in there.

This is maybe my upgrade from my VCI-100SE ... but I REALLLLLLLY wanted 4 channels! This is tempting tho!!

The only down side I see is that you need an A/C adapter to use it, and the price. There is lots of stuff to choose from that sells for around that price range.

looks nice... kinda like a mix of the twitch and VCI300. But I dunno bout spending that much for it. I'd kinda want it but would rather spend less and use a VCI100 as a back up.

My only gripe with this kind of Vestax units is that the LED meters don't state what DB levels you are at... Immediately after green there is red, so I have never known where is what.... plus... it seems that this unit won't have individual Volume meters for each channel...

Of course this would be announced ONE WEEK after I got my VCI-300mkII

im very interested, not really sure i like the ideal of having to adjust the mic volume from the back of the unit, but its not really a big deal

+1 for Serato ITCH.

+1 for separate booth outputs/control. Weird that control is on back, but not a deal breaker for this type of unit. Unbelievable Vestax missed this on VCI-400.

+1 for XLR master outputs.

+1 for metal chassis and metal control surface and no shiny plastic.

+1 for power supply if it means proper output level that can match that of CDJs, unlike non-power supply Twitch's inadequate output.

+1 for yellow caution LED indicator between green and red on level meters (shown in pics, but video appears to be red). :-/

+1 for what appears to be a functional LED for playhead position on platters rather than a useless lightshow.

+1 for illuminated ring around knobs (at least some of them).

+1 for search strip.

–1 for what appears to be cheap SYNC, CUE, and PLAY/PAUSE buttons as used on VCI-300.

–1 for what appears to be cheap fader caps as used on VCI-300.

–1 for what appears to be short pitch faders as used on VCI-300. Anyone know actual length and +/– pitch % range(s)?

–1 for what appears to be short channel faders. Anyone know actual length?

Additional questions:

Can crossfader be turned off?

Can level meters be split so left shows left deck and right shows right at same time? Not really a big deal when managing just 2-channels, but still curious.

Do LOW/MID/HIGH EQs cut to true off (0dB) when turned all the way counter clockwise?

What are maximum +dB for LOW/MID/HIGH EQs?

Is there a mode that allows platters to skip through track on beat like Numark NS6 can?

Where are the beatgrid controls? (eg: set, clear, adjust, slip, on/off)

I see the green SAMPLER label underneath the HOT CUE button so I assume it's accessed via SHIFT, but what kind of access and control of ITCH's SP-6 sample banks do you have from the controller?

Please keep in mind that ITCH controls everything except output levels where there's a volume knob. What do I mean? LEDs are controlled by ITCH - they don't meter anything directly, etc...

[iii][O/];45383']Anyone know actual length and +/– pitch % range(s)?
This is controlled by ITCH. IIRC, the VCI-300 was 6%. I don't expect this to change.

[iii][O/];45383']–1 for what appears to be short channel faders. Anyone know actual length?
60mm. Same as S4 and DJM mixers, IIRC.

[iii][O/];45383']Can crossfader be turned off?
The crossfader is defeatable in ITCH.

I don't think that there's anything to change here. It's the master output level from ITCH's perspective, not the master output level after the volume.

For everything else, check out the VCI-300's manual (http://serato.com/downloads/files/51501/Vestax_VCI-300_ITCH_1.7_Manual.pdf). I'm sure that it'll be the same implementation.

That's one of the nicest looking controllers that I've ever seen. Well done to Vestax!

Can you make that smaller in software?

Really wish these controllers would stick to 8% as the minimum setting so it matches that of Technics for old schoolers who are migrating into digital.

Dammit. The stumpy little channel faders on the S2 was actually one of my biggest complaints about that unit. Makes it a very tedious task when performing very smooth, detailed type mixing. IMO 100mm should be the minimum length.

Thanks for this and the info.

That's one of the things I don't like. That size of fader corresponds to about +/- 3 or 4% on a Technics fader. And even with 7-bit MIDI, that winds up being a resolution of about .025 %, which is plenty good enough for anything.

6% is just way too much range to have on a pitch fader that small. Either the fader needs to be 2.5 times as long and high resolution, or about +/-2.5 to 3% range with buttons that move the center by the range. Do that, and make the fader feel dirty instead of cheap and anyone coming from technics would be able to ride pitch with the best of them.
