What software do you want to use? There are many options: Traktor Scratch Pro (or Duo), Serato Scratch Live, Deckadance, Virtual DJ, Mixvibes, Torq, Ms. Pinky.

Traktor Scratch Pro (and Duo) and Serato Scratch Live require proprietary interfaces. All of the others are open, so with those you can use an audio interface of your choice.

With Serato Scratch Live, you need to buy a Rane SL-1, SL-2, SL-3, or SL-4 (or a Rane mixer with SSL integrated). The Scratch Live software is free.

With Traktor Scratch Pro, you need to buy... Traktor Scratch Pro. It comes with an Audio 10. Or Traktor Scratch Duo, which comes with an Audio 6. Otherwise, if you just buy an NI interface, you'll need to buy a Traktor Scratch upgrade kit.

I would recommend a used SL-1, or Traktor Scratch Duo 2.

Do you have DVS software? You can do it on the cheap to try it out by downloading Mixxx (http://www.mixxx.org/) and getting a 4 in 4 out audio interface like this (http://www.pssl.com/!eoW!Gh59RVIj4d9SIyfBog!/MAYA-44-USB-4-In-4-Out-USB-Audio-Interface) one.

Depends on what software you want to use.

I would therefore use traktor, but what is better? Traktor scratch duo 2 with audio interface buying second-hand or another sound card and then with traktor (can I come cheap)

I think traktor....

Then you'll need an NI interface (Audio 4 or up) plus this (http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/dj/traktor-scratch-pro-2/?page=2068).

You can't buy Traktor Scratch Duo 2 without an interface. It's a package that includes the software and the interface.

And you can't just use any interface with Traktor. Again, it has to be one of NI's.

You could buy the Maya 44 USB (as mentioned) for around $100, and Virtual DJ Pro is $300. So that's around $400 total.

That won't work with a DVS. Not enough i/o. Same reason an Audio 2 won't work.

I'd look for a cheap M-Audio Connectiv. You can get one for about $100-$150 used and they'll work great for DVS. But it depends on whether you like the software or not. Watch software demos on YouTube and decide what software you want first.
