March 2014 - Mix 1 (Electro/Progressive House) [Need Feedback]

Hey guys, I've been doing this for a long time and have made plenty of mixes and participated in many battles but I challenged myself this time. First of all, I never use sync. I use Serato DJ and I have it set to disabled. What I did different though was put SDJ in library view and I covered up the waveform and BPM readout so it'd be like beat matching with TT's or CDJ's.

Second transition - around 6:30
Third transition - around 9:15
Fourth transition - around 12:00
Fifth transition - around 15:00
Sixth transition - around 16:35
Seventh transition - around 19:15
Eight transition - around 21:35

Hey Baller,

I had a listen yesterday, but didn't get around to post some comments.

Given your new parameters for mixing, I think you did a good job. There were a couple that drifted, but you brought them back nicely (6 or 7 from memory)

I thought there were some transitions where you avoided direct beat matching and transitioned over a beat-less section - buildup to a drop I think. Not a problem in my book, just an observation.

You're doing very well mixing under these conditions. :tup:

FYI, I've got to get used to using CDJ's at some stage - So I've started covering visual aids too. Still got BPM and waveform but I stick a folded piece of cardboard over the beat grid track overlay :)

Hey thanks for the feedback back buddy! Yeah I think I transitioned in a breakdown once and a buildup once but other than that it was pretty decent :) I screwed up the gains at what part but whatever :P
