Is this best for a and or could it be for a DJ? What specifically does it do ? Increase bass or create a bass line from the higher frequencies like you would see in car audio from a Audio Control EPICENTER.

With the advent of digital audio that can produce frequencies properly in the bass region this type of device is not needed much today.

Ok thank you. But in my position Alot of Latino music has bass in the 80hz and up region and like the EPICENTER It produces 30-50 hertz off the 80hz being produceds.

If it was recorded that way it is ment to be played that way. BTW there are not a lot of pro subs that go down to 30hertz some barely do 50 properly.

Besides more subs/deeper subs, give Waves Maxxbass a shot.

Actually does work quite well just using fun audio "illusions."

+1 this (the first generation of the Peavey Kosmos) in conjunction with a known problematic amp design from Crown managed to blow a pair of my Tubas back in the day during a rental gone wrong (due to my not being present & I accept my role in this). I rented the system out with QSC amps & a DBX Driverack, the people I rented the system out to had swapped out my QSC amps for Crown CE2000 amps & swapped out my Driverack PA for a Peavey Kosmos with the end result being two our of four Tubas getting fried that evening.

Incognito, You have a BFM System?

Used to but I sold it & bought a JTR system back in 2010, with my potentially ending up with yet another completely new system by the time summer rolls around hopefully. Nothing wrong with either of the systems but after a while I get that urge to try a new system out even if what I presently have meets or exceeds my requirements but then that's one of the ways how I have been able to have first hand knowledge on so many different systems over the years.

Sounds fun, See I can't do that. But what I do as a substitute is help others so I can improve myself.

It will come with time, I wasn't too far off from where you presently are when I was your age (I should actually still have a few pictures of my systems from that age. 15? right?).

OK, I'll dig through my old hard drives & see if I can find a couple old pictures of my old systems from when i was 15 for you ( I know how much you like eye candy). It was mostly all DIY cabinets from Fane but considering the commercial offerings that was available at that time it was pretty good stuff.

Hope you find some, You think a tuba 30 is hard for me to make ? What is a simple list of tools needed to make them just the most needed?

It's pretty easy really, just comes down to making sure it's air tight & you use PL glue for that then it's up to your finish to make it look good.

A skill saw, drill & maybe a jig saw (but a hand saw will do as a replacement).

Looks like strong bass lines around 50hz with some content extending down to 30hz

Program used is a free download called "audacity"

some content extending down to 30hz

Probably not as much as it appears. The noise floor should be at least 60dB down, not 38dB .

Open the music file in Audacity then select a small portion of the file where you see the peaks. Then go to Analyze > Plot Spectrum. You can then change the values on the drop down menus...

I used to like it so much that I used to make them for other people as well. At the time I was the only one on the island to have the Fane Handbook (you can download it for free now but really all the designs are out dated).

Had to Google the Fane Speaker Design Handbook to see some historic (outdated) designs for myself. Nice lookin' out, Nightro.

It looks like my subs I got in January for $40 bucks each are on page 33 of the book, with slight modification. They rip, but not like a hornloaded sub (ex. a Tuba36 or Titan48)

I know of people who are still building from that very same hand book to this day (actually it was around Christmas time), one thing that can be said about the designs is that they do go loud.

Let's just say they go loud, lol. Actually some of the designs don't sound half bad as far the tops go but none of the subs would really win any prizes for outright sound quality. The subs that didn't sound bad really couldn't be classed as subs since they only reached down to 55hz - 50hz but they would go loud (like the pair of folded horns I show in the picture below).

You'd have worlds better results building designs from here instead http://billfitzmaurice.net/

but here is a link for the first few pages of the handbook http://www.4fsc.co.uk/blue-room/Fane%20Loudspeaker%20Book,%20pages%2001-11.pdf
Here is a link to some of the designs & plans http://www.dancetech.com/index.cfm?loading=pa&pa_loader=181 (for some reason they pulled the plans for the 18" version of the scoop a few years ago but the plans for the 15" are exactly the same with just having to multiply the 15" versions measurements by 1.2 to get the 18" measurements)

Welcome back Phil.

Thanks Guys! Unfortunately probably won't be able to spend as much time as I used to here, but I am definitely planning to check in as much as I can.

Plus I am looking to sell a pair of never gigged JTR Growlers, so look to the Equipment for sale section if anyone is interested!

Take Care,
Phil
