I have a lead on some lights that can be used for uplights and also wash duties. They are non DMX but you can control them from a hand held wireless remote control. With the remote you can control the colours. Best part is the price $35 a piece shipped. When I get them and try them out I will post some pictures of the results. For now here is a picture of the light.

Question 1: Can you Power link? Surely there won't be an outlet in every single location that you want to uplight.

Question 2: How bright are they?

Looks like a good approach, besides that is doesn't seem to be linkable... hmm but do you think the idea of this can stand up to DMX... because with DMX you can than bring effects like strobing into the whole room through uplights?

Ok to answer some questions.
A friend of mine used them outdoors to do some mood lighting around his house, he had the remote in his had and was changing colours and other neat stuff. I asked where he ot them and he reculantly give me his source. By the way they also make a round version but the beam is a bit to narrow but it could be used to light a cake or desert table.
As for linking you can order them all on the same remote frequency so that when you do a colour change or strobing the will all respond the same way. There is a way to DMX them but it is very limited for now but they are working on it.
Powerlinking is possible you can actually buy these without plugs and wire them how you like so you can place 4 of them on a t-bar and only have one plug feed them all.
I will hav them delivered sometime this week or next aand will put a review up.

Looks a lot like these, if not these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Waterproof-Remote-Control-10W-RGB-LED-Flood-Light-900LM-/280734907556?pt=UK_Light_Bulbs&hash=item415d1abca4

From looking around, they are 900LM. Here are some that are 3000LM ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/Waterproof-30W-RGB-Color-Changing-Outdoor-Remote-Control-LED-Flood-Light-3000LM-/400258568276?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d31451054 ). It would be interesting to see what kind of wash they produce.

whoaaa, big price difference with the 2 models there. $6 US vs. $80 US. Is the 20w difference really worth that much?

Just as an FYI standard puck or flatcars are around 20-30watts and are not really bright. So I would doubt the 10 Watt light you are looking for will achieve the desired effect. Also you will not get a focused beam that is desired for uplighting, it will give you a much wider wash, due to the design of that light.

Yeah, I doubt they would be great for uplighting...but may be alright for a diy facade or something along those lines.

The catering company one time brought those and had each one tied to a big battery block which would last the entire night. They were all remotely controlled. Worked pretty sick.

What's the story on these? Worth a crap?

OK got my light today. It would be good for lighting up trusses, under tables or as a wash. The beam is to wide for effective uplighting. They do make them with a different lens where the opening is round instead of square. I you want to have even light on walls instead of the beam look they will work great for that purpose also. The 30 watt version will be even better.

That's actually pretty impressive. Is that an 8 foot ceiling? I agree they don't look like the best light for narrow uplighting, but for a wall wash they might actually do a good job. Are you going to get more?

I plan on getting 10 to 15 more, I will order the ones with the circular opening for uplighting and get these to make a couple of 4 pars. BTW these were $27 shipped including the remote (battery included).

Here are some pictures of it doing static colours.

Ok here are couple of ideas (links below) for a more focused beam...

1 (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/10W-RGB-LED-Flood-Light-Projection-outdoor-Floodlight-B-/270850664417?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f0ff527e1)

2 (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/RGB-LED-Flood-Light-10W-85-265V-Outdoor-Waterproof-Project-Remote-Control-/290633397682?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43ab19b5b2)

By the way these take up about 1/3 the space of a regular par 36.
