I have an all-digital setup right now but want to move to a hybrid setup so I can use Serato or CDs with the same hardware. I was thinking about getting two CDJs, a mixer, and time-coded CDs but this might not be the best route to take because it won't be the simplest setup. Which CD players are out there on the market that are capable of controlling a Serato program without time coded CDs? I know the Denon DN-S3700 and the Pioneer CDJ850 have MIDI, but what other CD players do that I should look into?

Which CD players are out there on the market that are capable of controlling a Serato program without time coded CDs??

The following devices work natively with Serato Scratch Live:

CD Players: Pioneer CDJ 350s, 400s, 850s, 900s, 2000s, and the Pioneer MEP7000
Effect Controllers/Cue Point Trigger Units: Denon DN-HC1000, Novation Dicers, Vestax VFS-1
Digital Controllers: Denon DN-HC4500

CD Players outside the Pioneer ones that I listed (the Denon DNS1200 for example) can often have their buttons mapped successfully but there is no way to map the jog wheel or to achieve perfect 1-to-1 mapping. For that reason Rane recommends the use of timecode CDs when working with CD players outside the Pioneer line of HID compatible units.

TL;DR: No one but Pioneer makes CDJs with native control of Scratch Live.
