Rane Sixty-One, Sixty-Two & Z-Trip’s Sixty-Two Z Mixers for Serato Scratch Live

Turntablism is alive and more creative than ever. Rane and Serato are proud to be supporting partners in that creativity with theintroduction of the Rane Sixty-One and Sixty-Two mixers for Serato Scratch Live. For more than a decade, artists have chosen innovative Rane instruments to advance their art, and three generations of TTM series mixers have been the top pick for many of the world's best performers. These mixers more tightly integrate performer, music, software, and hardware. The artist adds passion, imagination and skills. The Sixty-Two is a plug-and-play package supporting two computers, 2-deck digital vinyl simulation, SP-6 sample player, software and hardware effects and all the record and playback channels you need. Software controls for Library, Loops, Cues and SP-6 are laid out for fast and intuitive access. Choose the Sixty-Two and join a community of users dedicated to advancement of the art. Genre-bending musical pioneer Z-Trip co-designed the Limited Edition Sixty-Two Z Mixer, which features a face plate designed byrenowned artist, Shepard Fairey and high-quality custom purple cables. "Every DJ dreams of designing a mixer,” reveals Z-Trip. “The new Rane Sixty-Two Z is my dream realized — it has everything I want in a mixer. Only Rane and Serato could help build such a versatile machine and interface." If you are looking for the same bullet-proof construction, pristine audio quality and integrated 20-channel sound card but prefer to use your own MIDI controller with outboard software or hardware effects and a single computer, consider the Rane Sixty-One. Dean Standing at Rane Corporation says “We have a huge group of dedicated users who have been sharing their thoughts and ideas with us on what the next battle mixer should be. As we were developing this next generation mixer, it turned into two products: a basic high-quality mixer with integrated 20-channel sound card and a second mixer that also includes MIDI mappable controls, internal effects and two USB ports. We appreciate that one model doesn’t fit all users.” "Rane have nailed it with these two incredible mixers," explains Sam Gribben, C.E.O. of Serato. "The Sixty-One is perfect for the pure digital turntablist, with its clean and classic interface and, of course, Rane's amazing magnetic faders. The Sixty-Two is the ultimate party rocking mixer, with all the controls you need at your fingertips.

It's about time they made replacements to the 57, i'm digging the simplicity of the sixty-one. The Z-Trip version is just plain wrong.

Although will slide this in here, if Traktor users are looking for 57/sixty one type mixer for less. The Pioneer DJM-T1 has dropped in price big time, AGI selling it for $999. Much more tempting price than before.

might get a 61 at some point. wish it had XLRs but i can't stand those 62/68 buttons.

I'm surprised no ones made a new set of buttons out of a slightly more rubbery material. That would be an awesome mod for the 68 and 62 when it comes out.

I pre-ordered my sixty-two. can't wait. mixer looks amazing. i'm sure everyone is not happy with all the features but it's to please everyone.

61 is nice. Thinking I might buy one also eventually.

But 62 / 68 simply look like UFOs.

But then again, Rane sound quality… :)

The buttons on the 62 are different than the 68. Different plastic (i.e. not as hard), shorter travel distance, and the trigger switch is centered under the button and not at the bottom like on the 68.

the 62 looks pretty dope to me. i've been drooling over the 68 for a while.. now they've pared it down to 2 channels and fixed some of the fatal flaws of the 68. sounds good to me! i pre-ordered the 62-Z for a VERY good price too. i'll probably skin it but i'm a sucker for an LTD ED and the Oyaide cables put me over the top.. i've been wanting to pick some of them up for a while. i'll try to post a review once i get the mixer in hand.

btw, i've got a DJM800 for times when i need more than two channels. and i've never owned a mixer with a built in SSL interface. This is gonna be fun.

I bought a TTM57SL in October....so now I'm kicking myself.

The three big things that would make me get the 61 are the dedicated filters, USB 2.0 and SP6 Sampler through the aux channel.

The 61 doesn't make a lot of sense to me personally. Already got a 57, and well... it has XLR outs. :B

I'm considering the 62 though. Dug through the literature in order to mock it, but ended up seeing the good points.

The Z-Trip version is hideous though. XD For the money, I'd get a custom skin. Also, who wants some other guy's name on their gear?

Thoughts on the 62 versus a 57 and the necessary controllers to get the same functionality?

I played on both at NAMM and I was impressed. I really like the 62 but I cant see myself budgeting that in right now. I like the 61 also since im in the market for a ttm56, and the 61 seems like a dumb downed 57 or spiced up 56 lol. But it is midimappable and i can see myself mapping the mic controls to track browsing or something if that would work.

And if not or if im still to poor in a month, a ttm56s is still a beauty to me.

Its also funny hearing people complaining "over the crowded upper half and bare lower half of the mixer" over at the serato forums when they unveiled them, guess some people still dont know that Rane caters to turntabalisim. Even the reps at NAMM were embarresed over some of the stuff being said on the forum lol.

i've been hearing this alot. this isn't the first Signature Model mixer... Grandmaster Flash had two different signature models, ISP had one, Craze had one, Funkmaster Flex even had one. Carl Cox..

just remember that most dj's are getting great deals on the 62. much cheaper than advertised. the price of the 61 is cheaper than when the 57 came out.

Hmmmm...I might have to call up a few places and see what there able to do. Plus if I sell tracktor that would recoupe some of the cost, especially since ive been thinking about going back to serato. Theres just too much with traktor, I like simplicity lol

both pretty pricey... i mean the 62 is almost like the 68 but with 2 less channels.. but its only about 400-500 dollars cheaper?

I've got my ideal set up at the moment (DJM800 w/ Innofader Pro, SL4, Dicers, 2 Technics, 2 CDJ1000s). The only thing I'm really longing for is being able to use the Mixtape function of The Bridge which you need a Rane mixer for. On top of that, it would be nice to have all of the midi controls natively supported on the mixer, but to be honest I manage just fine with my Dicers.

I could sell my 800 & SL4 and pick up a 61/62/68, then use my new mixer at home and use my old SL1 for normal gigs, but I dunno if I wanna take that step back from the SL4 now... Eurgh. First world problems, eh?

I guess the Mixtape function doesn't work anymore. http://serato.com/forum/discussion/612709#6294633

2. No, you cannot record to mixtape .ALS, Serato Scratch Live is no longer carrying Mixtape as a feature. It has been shelved until the usability issues and functional problems have been fixed.

No probs. It's seriously a shame though. The idea sounded awesome. It looks like the issue was that it didn't work all that great. It wasn't picking up fast fader movements like crabs.

Does this mean the TTM-56s and TTM-57 will be discontinued? Should we expect price cuts to these mixers?

Rick_N
02-13-2012, 04:05 PM
The ttm-57 is going to be discontinued, but according to the rep at namm the ttm-56s will continued to be produced till supplies run out or arent produced anymore. Not quite sure what that means but I think the 56s is still going to be around for quite awhile. What was positive though is that he said they werent planning on doing an upgrade to the 56s.

the rane 57 will be discontinued but still supported by rane. there are some great deals for the 57 on craigslist. I sold 2 on there. My partner is also selling his 2nd one.

Any folks wanna chime in on their purchase? I would like to know their thoughts on these mixers that Rane came out. Very interested in purhasing one down the line once I get the cash. The Rane 62 looks sweet but I wonder if the price tag is worth it since I already have SL3 and a pair of dicers. Would be greatly appreciated. :D

Rick_N
03-04-2012, 01:18 PM
You could sell the sl3 and pick up a 61. Since you already have dicers you won't be missing much. The 61 is a sick, simple mixer, almost like a ttm56 with serato built in and not much else.

So far I love my 61, as soon as I figure out how to map some functions I'll be even happier.

Ferrealz
03-04-2012, 01:40 PM
Gotta check that out too. My eyes were set too much on the 62. Lol. Are you planning to use any midi devices with your 61? Tired of using the trackpad for my effects. Dicers were fine but having knobs made it much easier using effects.

Rick_N
03-04-2012, 01:45 PM
Well it has a filter, and besides that I might use an echo occasionally. If I set it up before hand I can access it by just pushing the flex fx button and then you also have the dry to wet to control it too. Its not as much as the 62 but its enough for me.

Ferrealz

How are the Effects? mainly the Echo and HP filter and Lp Filter. Are they compareable to Highend ($2,000) mixers. DJM800, DJM900? A&H mixers at the same price point.

Reason I ask is because I wasnt very happy with the TTM57's Effects. Whats the word?
