Anyone ever used the DVD? If so, what are your thoughts. I purchased it, waiting for it to ship. Hopefully I can improve my scratching.

Been battling the Demon lately off of you tube. Moving on up to dude with the gas mask. Is it worth it? of course. Probably the next best thing to a Q&A along with learning from basic to advanced.

I would also recommend taking advantage of free resources, like DJ Angelo's Turntable YT playlist:

Hah! I discovered this guy's videos just last week! Great tutorials, and he's a really good teacher.

Its a great video to own. There are tons of videos on youtube that can help with scratching if you dont want to buy it. DJ Angelo is a great tutor, as mentioned above.

Also check out shiftee salsa. Very funny and useful for new scratch tech.

Done before he was DMC champ as well

I've used the videos. They're helpful. Probably need to use it more to be honest. :)

Hi guys, I'm planning to start trying to do some structured scratch practice.
My plan is to give myself a scratch a week or maybe 2 weeks depending on how I pick it up.

The main reason I'm doing this is because when I practice I just mix, scratch and juggle. I now feel my scratching is not as advanced as I would like it to be.

Anyway if any of you fancy joining in with me let me know. Perhaps we could do a short recording each week so in a way we could sign each scratch off.

Not a comp or anything more helping and supporting each other.

I'm currently trying to decide which scratch to practice this week. I personally think I'm past the really basic ones but I'm also useless with the names of scratches as well. I'm not even sure if I can do a flare although I probably can.

I inherrited this off a mate years ago with the vinyls and never got round to it, this thread has made me think I need to next time I've got the house to myself.

DJ Angelo teaches techniques very well. I legit learned so much from his videos. Q's dvd is also a must have. Between those 2 sources, I'd say you're pretty much set on scratching 101
