any other 62 users here?

i got one of the first to hit the east coast after they were released and i've been using it for every gig since then. it's been really solid.

wondering if others have had any experiences with this mixer. anybody play around with the fx or filter perimeters?

I have it also had it the same week it came out.

Played with it at namm for 4 days and was like im getting one.

I been giging & doing video with it with no problems at all.

The sound is way better than my 57 or any mixer I had.

Im buying the 61 next or might get another 62 dont know yet.

I got a 61, can I be half in the club lol....

But I also played with the 62 and 61 at NAMM and fell in love with them.

I fell victim and bought one because someone offered to buy my 57. No regrets thus far. Its a great mixer!

I think so. I sold the 57 while there is still demand for it. A few things that i think stand out about the 62 compared to the 57...
-better SQ
-filter knobs for each channel
-cue buttons, seperate SP6 channel/volume
-better quality knobs
-Dual USB 2.0
-built in fx, w/ 2 optional external fx units
-onboard loop controls
-split cue
-Mic talk over

Although you can trigger cues, activate loops, etc. with the 57, Rane has made it much easier to do so on the 62. The thing i miss most on the 57 is triggering instant doubles via joysticks. The 62 requires a different method which isn't as convenient.

You can always set it up in the settings. Instant Doubles when ever you load the same track to the other deck.

How do the effects sound? Do they compare to other $2000.00 mixers? I wasnt a fan of the 57's effect.

Is it possible to edit the EQs to change the curve and/or crossover points? One of my least favorite things about Rane mixers is how high the cutoff is set for the low band.

I understand that. Im just saying the 62 isn't as convenient when you are beat juggling and trying to use the instant double by double clicking the load knob. It was much easier tapping the joysticks left and right on the 57 to get that instant double.

There is, however, another alternative to that and it is to midi map another button for instant double, but i rather not :)

EQ curves for High/Mid/Low are the same as the 57. Is there another mixer that has that ability?

just ordered mine today. Can't wait. I loved the joysticks on the 57 I used to use them for loops and reverse and most importantly the temp cue (start of track).

gonna miss it but cant wait for my 62. 1 week!

Any of you guys want to check the fader connection? Rane changed their standard on the 68 and I was wondering if they use the same standard as the 68 on the 61 and 62. Please help me out before I get inundated with requests to fit the Innofader!

Used my 62 on its first gig last night. At times I was looking for some buttons as if it were my 57 lol, but after a while I went ham on my baby and christened right. 👍

If I open up my new baby and take some pics, will I get a discount on an innofader for the 62? Just curious lol

Just got my mixer a week ago and used it over the weekend for my mobile gigs. Loving it much more than my 68! So much, that I've decided to sell the 68.

What is the street prices people are finding for this mixer? I heard it's selling below MSRP but wondering if these are authorized dealers?

I've just picked up a Rane 62. Its really nice so far. I do have one Issue with the fader hamster switches, cause they're terrible. I contacted Rane about it. Below if my question and the reply. I was kind of let down.

Original Message -

I have one serious issue that I’d like to be able to address. This is pretty specific to how I scratch.

I constantly swap between regular and hamster fader control when scratching (generally I only swap the main cross fader, not the line faders). The hamster switch for the crossfader on the 62 is really small and really hard to toggle accurately and quickly. I just upgrade from a ttm 56, which uses a button rather than a switch. I liked this version much better as it was easier to toggle w/o thinking about it. What I really want to do is to Modify my 62. I want to have a button that can toggle my main crossfader. I’d want that new button to sit directly under the center ‘cue’ button, between the top half of the line faders.

Can you suggest anything?
Can these be modded?
Can I do it?
Can I bring my unit to your factory and have something like that done?

Any help with this would be great!

Thanks for using Rane gear.

We do not do modifications on our mixers.
What your wanting to do may be technically possible, I'm not sure, but regardless, we wouldn't be able to send you any schematics in order for you or anyone else to even attempt the mod.
With that said, the hampster switch is what it is on the 62.
If that won't work for you, unfortunately, you may need to use a different mixer:(

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers,

I'm guessing that he has no idea what I'm talking about, which is really sad. Though he clearly knows that no matter what the question is, Rane is not interested in moding their products. Why would he say: 'With that said, the hampster switch is what it is on the 62.'????

My current set up consists of: TTM 56, SL3, 1200's, and Dicers. I was thinking about picking up a TTM 57 mainly to incorporate video mixing/scratching However the SQ (24 vs. 16 bit) and USB (2.0 vs. 1.1) specs look better on the SL3 than on the 57. Are the differences very noticeable? Right now my sound is great (i run my 56 through my Yamaha mixer with eq & dsp) and I use Dicers to manage cues. Would I fair well with a 57 or should I get a 62?

Which is possible but they don't do modes like that unless its something that was already there that needs fixing

Tested out my buddies 62 yesterday... Gawd damn that mixer is sick. Its just blew out every 2 ch. mixer out the water. I feel like tossing my 56 in the garbage after trying it out. Everything you need from SSL is available on the mixer. The fucking cf is so nice.. I like the addition of the little rubber bumpers. It really minimizes any laptop use. Haven't seen an all-in-one solution in one mixer built this perfectly... the plastic for the buttons is a bit weird because you kinda expect it to be more rubbery like an akai pad but you know what... all you really need is a light tap. I'm sold on it but my wallet is far from agreeing with me right now. Lets see how much I can get for my 56+Sl1.

Seriously considering purchasing this mixer!

Can any1 tell me if all the bright lights piss you off?

I got me a TTM 56s and my only complaint about that is there is not enough light & hard to see EQs when the ligths are off. Don't know if Rane overcompensated on the 62.

Thanks

Mine will be here Thursday and I haven't sold my DJM909 yet so I'm gonna A/B compare the two in terms of sound quality in regards to Serato, sound quality when used as a true Phono Pre-Amp listening to standard vinyl, Crossfader feel in regards to Turntablist style scratching.

I have already seen complaints about the reverse/hamster switch being too small for quick use during a battle set where some people like to switch from hamster to normal for different scratch techniques.

VjQue

not regretting at all. very worth the $1600 to $2k price. whats funny is dj's complain that they want this and that on a mixer then when its put on it there like wow it cost to much.

really thats what you ask for.

I'm about to buy a 2nd one for my 12's.

if you make good money djing (And you should) then $1600 to $2k shouldn't be nothing.

if not the stop djing for $100 when others charge $500+ for the same gig.
