So I just picked up a pair of EV ELX 115P and 118P speakers, both of which have built in crossovers.

I have my behringer cx 2310 left over from my old setup but do I even need that or should I just stick to the built in crossovers.

I only ask cause the built in crossovers are set, and can only be switched with 2 positions, whereas my dedicated crossover offers more flexibility. This is the first time I've ever had powered speakers as well.

I wouldn't bother with an external crossover for the moment. Try for a while using the inbuilt and if you're not liking the sound use an external

Try both ways (what do you have to loose) and see which way gets you the best sound.

 I truly enjoy the flexibility that good quality outboard signal processing gear in a small rack can provide the typical DJ/smalltime PA operator, versus what the inbuilt processing offers on many selfpowered speakers.
