As i've said on other threads - QTX sound is a branch of Skytec who make speakers and amplifiers that border on fireworks. They are very un-reliable and they make Behringer look like Meyer Sound.

What exactly have you thought about in starting mobile DJing? Theres a few things you are going to need to consider:
1. Target audience: what sort of events are you looking to cater? parties and school functions? weddings? Each of these events require a different setup
2. Budget: To get started you are looking at-least $5k - speakers, microphones, stands, lighting ect
3. Safety: Often overlooked however things like cable testing and tagging, cable guards to stop people tripping on your leads.
4. Power supply at venues: keep in mind your power distribution and what you have available and remember to never load a circuit to more than 80% of its output.
5. Transport: no use buying stuff and not being able to fit it in the car

Have a think about those questions and get back to us

1. Parties (18ths, 21sts etc) not weddings catering to an audience of around 100-150
2. Budget around 1500 euro, I know it ain't much.
3. I actually have insurance and I will be professional when it comes to safety of others
4. unsure about power supply
5. I have a mini van (VW Caddy)

are QTX really that bad?

I've seen their amps explode....

What stores are you sorta looking at purchasing from. Also are you happy to buy used? Your probably best to get 2 tops and perhaps a sub. 1 corded mic and 1 wireless and some form of lighting. The subs sorta optional because if needed you can just rent some

Use 8 of them for fold backs for live bands - really good sounding speaker for its price.

would 2 315A be ok to get started with?

I'd go the 322's over the 315's because they have a slightly better sound overall. You can get away with just the 315's however you will probably need a sub for anything over about 80 people. And of course you will need a sub if you were to get the 322's

Would a sub be a priority? U reckon I could hold off til I got things going?

Depends, 100 teenagers in a hall you'll need subs. 150 people at a wedding I doubt it. If you have the ability to rent a sub if you need it then save up for a little while and get a decent sub

The Titans get LOUD, are compact and light and have a very flexible mixer section but don't sound nearly as good as the RCF cabs. The RCFs are just so much smoother and ear pleasing. The horn on the Titan cabs is simply a little honky.(which gives the impression of being louder because they are harder on the ears) Although good speakers overall, the Titans are probably better for live music than DJ IMO if sound quality is important to you.

***If you can get the 312A for cheaper than the 315As, do it as the 312As actually outperform the 315As in low frequency output. Reason for this is that both the 312A and 315A use the exact same cab (as does 322A, 325a, 522A and 525A) and while the box is the perfect size for the 12'' woofers, the 15'' woofers don't have enough room to breathe properly and low frequency response is negatively affected. The Art 3 and 5 series are the only lines where the 12'' boxes outperform the 15s (in the low frequency dept.) to my knowledge. Feel free if you have any questions at all.

Hey Al, thanks for the reply dude.

Some good info there to consider, basically I'm shopping around at the moment for active speakers. I came across the RCF 315A and the titans 12A, there both used but rarely used, and the RCF are about 200 euro more expensive but by what your saying it sounds like their worth it?!

The RCF 315A are a perfectly fine speaker yeah? I'd be doing small to medium gigs with them, would try be able it without a sub?

Perhaps u could recommend a sub to go with them? I won't be buying one right now but down the line I'll be purchasing a sub to go with them

I'd still take the 322A's over the 315's if they're te same price

I would do the same. The 322A is excellent AND has a true 2'' exit HF driver.

to the OP : the 315A is a great speaker as well. I would choose it over the Titan 12A. Add a sub or two later and they will be even better. (as is the case with all powered tops)
