[I'll post pictures later outlining this, for now it's just the text]

NOTE: This requires Serato Bridge and Ableton Live 32-bit (64-bit doesn't support Bridge)

GEAR::
-------

DJM-800 MIXER ROUTING

Ch1: Serato Deck L (Mixed like normal tracks)
Ch2: Serato Deck R (Mixed like normal tracks)
Ch3: (On CUE) Ableton Cue Out
Ch4: Ableton Master Out
FX: SEND/RETURN -> Set to Ch1 or Ch2 depending on which deck we are sampling. Turn S/R off to avoid sampling either deck if they're live.

Akai APC40

Pan, Send A, Send B, Send C banks are hard mapped to the FX Channel rack macros (8 knobs per channel) -- easy control of outbound relay FX to the master channel

"Scene" launch buttons are mapped to a 9th channel dedicated to vocal/mic input that is not on the grid.

The lower knob bank uses the default function -- to streamline this so the knobs dont accidentally lock onto the wrong bank, the bottom 4 buttons below the dynamic banks select one of 4 standard fx racks and locks the dynamic knob bank onto that device. The 4 upper buttons use default function, but could also map to other rack selectors. These aren't allocated just from lack of something to do with them yet. Pending.

Master fader controls dedicated mic channel volume. (max 0db)

Faders are midi mapped explicitly to their respective channel faders with a max of 0db

Arm Record buttons activate "Arm Record", "Cue" and disable "Activator" automatically. Toggling the record button again will return the activator on and the other two buttons off. This is set up to automate toggling of record armed tracks, and also disables the channel while recording while simultaneously cue'ing the channel it in the headphones. May leave all channels on armed-for-record mode to prevent channel cut when recording(?)

Final routings not decided yet

ABLETON TEMPLATE
----------------------------

8 "Main Channels" (Audio)

->FX1 [1] : Routes to FX Bank Channel 1 -> To Master
->FX1 [2] : Routes to FX Bank Channel 1 -> To Master
->FX2 [3] : Routes to FX Bank Channel 2 -> To Master
->FX2 [4] : Routes to FX Bank Channel 2 -> To Master
->FX3 [5] : Routes to FX Bank Channel 3 -> To Master
->FX3 [6] : Routes to FX Bank Channel 3 -> To Master
->FX4 [7] : Routes to FX Bank Channel 4 -> To Master
->FX4 [8] : Routes to FX Bank Channel 4 -> To Master

((These are armed to record as needed to sample from the SAMPLER channel, the APC40 grid is always focused on these 8 columns. SAMPLER channel explained later))

MIC VOCAL [9] -> To Master

((Strictly dedicated to the microphone. Channel clips are controlled with the APC Scene Launch buttons and contains a special Vox FX Bank controlled by the dynamic knobs. One of the 4 upper buttons on the dynamic knobs can jump to this FX Rack))

4 "FX Channel Relays" [10-13]

FX Relay 1 -- Contains Standard FX Rack for Bass/Low Frequencies
FX Relay 2 -- Contains Standard FX Rack for Bass/Low Frequencies
FX Relay 3 -- Contains FX Rack for Synths/Lead/Pad etc. Mid-High
FX Relay 4 -- Contains FX Rack for Synths/Lead/Pad etc. Mid-High

((These are simply Monitor IN channels that relay to Master but allow for automation (dummy clips) and a standard FX rack))

SAMPLER CHANNEL [14]

Channel can be deactivated to disable all sampling

((Monitor In channel with 2 INPUTS from the Send/Return on the mixer -- Audio From Ext In (1/2) -- Common input channels route to this channel and the primary 8 + MIC take Audio In from SAMPLER))

SYNTH CHANNEL -> To SAMPLER [15]

Contains Instrument Rack with maximum 127 preset instruments. MPK49 Large Data Wheel controls selection of instrument. Instrument should not contain adjustable settings, or perhaps use a Dynamic Knob wire-up to jump to the macro rack for each instrument and adjust as needed. Going to try to avoid this however. Monitor IN from MIDI (MPK49)

Contains 3 racks:

INSTRUMENT SELECT RACK (Contains up to 127 premade instruments in Operator, Simpler, Sampler, any instrument)
MIDI FX Bank (8 mapped standard midi affectors (MPK Slider Bank A?))
AUDIO FX Bank (8 mapped standard audio affectors (MPK Knob Bank A?))

DRUM OUT CHANNEL (In from MPK49/No Out) [16]

((Contains up to 127 Drum Racks selectable with the data wheel (same as synth)))

MPK49 Drum Pads (Banks A-D) correspond to 8 pad samples (2x4 types) at a time and 3 clip slots (far right) -- bottom right stops the channel clip

Bank A: Kick/Lows
Bank B: Snares/Mids
Bank C: Hats/Highs
Bank D: ????

4 DRUM BANK CHANNELS [17-20]

DRUM OUT -> DRUM BANK A -> MASTER
DRUM OUT -> DRUM BANK B -> MASTER
DRUM OUT -> DRUM BANK C -> MASTER
DRUM OUT -> DRUM BANK D -> MASTER

KORG BUILDUP/DROP AUTOMATORS [21-22]

((Preset Kick loops, Crashes, Buildups, Drum Fills, or Silencers for BanksA/B and C/D (8 rows each)))
