I left my HD25s at a party and they were hooked on me by the time I went back, and because I'm flat fucking broke over the next few months I was looking at the HD-215s as an intermittent replacement. Anyone recommend them?

I will neg rep anyone who posts recommending skull candy or beats any other fake 'poser' brand headphones. :teef:

-rep for anyone who says skull candy or beats. Though I would never consider those for DJing that is a little harsh, that person obviously needs assistance if they think those fly for DJs LOL :P .

Senneisser HDs
Sony MDRs
Pioneer HDJs
are the only contenders in my book for purchase

I don't have first hand 215 experience, but I would say the pioneers are good then tie the senn and sony.

Ended up with a pair of 215s, for much the same reasons you are considering them. They've been fine for me, good sound, comfortable. Good value for money.

My first pair of headphones were the HD215's and as a starter set they were great. Good value for money, and nice sound. 7 months use and they never skipped a beat.

In saying that though I've since bought a pair of HD25's and they are so much better than the HD215's.

The HD215's are fairly bulky too, but if money's an issue then you really can't go past them in my book.

Sony MDRs

You could consider a pair of sony mdr V500, they're dirt cheap and will do the job for a couple of months...

Sony MDR-V6s are like $60 and IMHO hands-down better than anything else mentioned in this thread.

They're the same as the MDR-7506 with a different sticker.

I prefer my HD-25s, but it's a small preference that completely evaporates when price is actually a factor.

Manu and Mostapha have covered the MDR-V500s, MDR-V6s and and MDR-7506s... So I will chuck out the MDR-V700s which are ~$99 from pssl.com and most other US retailers... They are the best <$100 headphones money can buy IMHO.

What are you mainly using the headphones for?

[sorry if its a stupid question, but if its just for home use for a few months before you get some HD25s, maybe you could get some listening headphones rather than DJ headphones...that way when you do get some DJ phones later you would have the best of both worlds]

I think the 700s sound like utter garbage. But I've never heard a new pair…just GC floor models and other DJ's cans.

Technics DH1200 are only like $100 for a pair and they're pretty good headphones.

Will never consider pioneers or sonys, wasted too much money on having them break. :teef:

I've got the 215. Its a good set but I feel like it could do with a bit more bass. Had it for about 2 years now and no problems so far so its durable too.
Its good value for money so if you just need a replacement set for a while until you get something better then i think these should do just fine.

I've been using AKG 518's for my daily commute for about 2 years and I love 'em. Nice clean sound with the perfect low end (for my taste) and were only $100 CDN. Marc Stokes did a review of them on the old site and found them pretty favourable for light DJ use
