Did a semi formal for 950 high schoolers. I suplied sound some lighting (lasers) and lowlying fog macines, my partner suplied 4 moving heads acrobats, led curtain. Sound was 3 tops per side and 4 folded horns. My reliable GTD Audio amps ran the bass and QSC did tops duty. We are doing a bigger event in may in a hocky rink.
Here are some pictures and a short video.

More power to ya man. Rockin show. It's amazing how much a little bit of fog can really enhance a show.

Wish I had that kind of budget to even come close to the equipment yall have.

The students did this themselves (not done by the school). There were 4 schools that got together and rented the venue and one of the dj's work with us we even had a rap group for a small set. They sold out all tickets 3 weeks before the event. We managed to sell another 50 tickets at the door @ $75 a pop.

$75 a pop.

What the f***, that's a disgrace in fairness.

I'm glad somebody else just said "WTF" when they read $75 a pop. I am cheap by no means, but no way I am paying $75 to get into a HS dance

It was the dance of the winter and the guys were willing to pay anything to get in since there were 4 to 1 girl to guy ratio.

That is freakin insane. I was a senior in highschool last year and there is no way in hell we could/would EVER be able to pull anything like that off. Where did this even take place?? Where in the country and what type of venue?

I hope you made at least over $1200. the truss system setup is nice, should of ran with truss covers with par36 led inside. im surprised those amps could push the subs. I would of ran the qsc to the subs. and your rack has a few non needed stuff in it.

The QSC PLX series suck at running subs, the do sound great running mids and tops though. The GTD amp is built the old fashioned way a large transformer lots of caps and lots of output transistors per channel, after a bass notes hits it recovers very fast. The one amp at the bottom ran 4 folded horns all night and never went into termal or clipped. As for the stuff in the rack it's all used and needed.
Here is a list of whats in there.

Powerbar/conditioner/racklight
Wireless mic system.
db/peek meter
12 channel mixer/preamp (can accomodate 3 dj's at a time a pair of mics, an input for my projector laptop.
Speaker management
DSP EQ
Drawer for mics, adaptors, flashlight, mini lasers, batteries, power spider and other odds and ends.
Digital amp for running my monitors or tweeters when running three way.
QSC for running tops
GTD for subs
On top of rack my backup GTD (various duties) this night it was running 4 tops.

Since everyone else is posting video logs, here's one of mine from a gay wedding last year.

I don't know a venue around here we could use fog :(

Sween
02-09-2012, 03:43 PM
Haze. Not fog.

That venue is awesome. They don't have smoke detectors (because the maximum occupancy is less than 300).

That is much more lights than I ever usually do at a wedding but they wanted "the works"...
