Who would be up for doing one of these?

We just do a mix of about 1.5 - 2hrs and I can upload them to my "business" soundcloud account as I've unlimited space.

Just as a little promo tool for yourselves and DJforums?

Hah, nor would I mate.

I was thinking if we can get as many people together as possible, then we can put them online as DJF mix series. I am not totally sure how to do it, put them all up at the same time, or maybe one per month.

I would like at least 6 people involved though. I'll link it all on my website too in a special section.

10-31-2013, 07:35 AM
Please don't do schranz.

In a way you have plenty of freedom because its a DJF mix series, but at the same time, if I am uploading it, and keeping it on my business SC account, then it needs to not be anything I'd consider to be "gash", so that includes schranz ;)

Just have it sorted before the end of November, then we can kick it off.

k sorry it's taken so long. here is quick a sample option. i can try remake the logo from scratch cus its pretty low-res here on the site. i can do the techno mix series in different fonts, but i figured something edgy would be coolest. feedback please. this is just a starting point and i can go anywhere from here.

Cool ok. Would be good if we could include the name of whoever has done the mix too. So all those that have said they will do one in this thread.

m:cake, melodic techno is fine, as long as it is a good mix. Like I said I don't want to push people to much towards me saying "I want this and this", but if its going up on my page and advertised through my website, then it has to be at a certain standard technically and musically and fit with the kind of techno we are pushing, which isn't really minimal (at least certainly not of the shit minus kind).

London TechnoBlog soundcloud.

You will be joined with the likes of Derrick May, Rolando, Slam and all other good techno artists. We get a fair few hits a day and haven't been running the account that long. Our website is getting quite a lot now too, and we are forever going through promos that get mailed to us. So should be a good place for a bit of free promo for you lot.

I'll do techno no problem but I'm not going to host other stuff on it.

Adzm00

Yes. If it goes well, and you lot actually send me all your sets before xmas (send them now) then I can do another one, and maybe it can be done every 6 months or something?

Can you lot all send them within the next week as soon after I will be patying a lot and then travelling to see my mum for a week over xmas, so I won't have time to get it all uploaded. Then early Jan I'm going away snowboarding so won't have time to sort it then either.

If only a few of you send me links then I will just run with them and everyone else is just going to have to miss out. All I'm asking is you upload it somewhere, send me a tracklist and a blurb about yourself. It's 10 minutes work people.

Always enjoying electronic music in video games, and growing up with such movies as "Breakin'" he's really grown to love the genres of Breakbeat, House, Techno and other genre gaps in between. The name Ellissentials utilizes a combination of the artist’s last name, Ellis, and the word 'essentials.' Ellis has rocked the settings of HIN (Hot Import Nights) in Boston, Massachusetts, over 6 years, random bars and clubs through out the states, and of course quite a few New Years Eve partys.

Leveraging his +10 years of DJing, Ellissentials has produced 9 unofficial album releases over the years and is looking to continue pursuing musical endeavors. Reaching the pinnacle of previously set goals, Kris accomplished his dream of distributing his productions/mixes to the masses. BIO: Contra's musical taste has always been in the underground. He started listening to hip hop in the late 80's at the young age of 6, loving the energetic beats of the likes of Beastie Boys and Run DMC. This continued until the mid 90's when all of that came to a halt. Being sickened by the increasing commercialism of hiphop and rap, he fell under the influence of his brother's Chemical Brothers cd's. This love grew after discovering artists like Daft Punk, Pills, John Kelly, and Fatboy Slim.
After turning 18 (legal clubbing age in Alberta), things once again changed. Hardhouse and trance was the big thing at the time and the next step in Contra's progression. His passion for the music was noticed by the local dj's who often invited him into the booth where he could get a far better view of the art of mixing. This lead him to getting his first set of turntables in 2001 and his first vinyls from labels like Vicious Circle, Mohawk, Tidy, and Nukleuz. After about a year when he was comfortable with his skills, he started playing out and throwing his own nights wherever he could.....downtown apartments, afterparties, even throwing his own one-offs in strip club VIP rooms! Things were looking great in the city of Red Deer, AB until everything started to slow down in about '05. Most recently, production groups like Synthetic started throwing events in the city. They allowed and strived for more underground music. By this time, Contra grew out of the trance and hardhouse tracks he once loved and evolved towards more mature and complex techno sounds. Artists like A. Paul, Electrorites, Ryuji Takeuchi, and Pfirter currently influence Contra greatly.

Cool cool.

The rest of you pls. Basically, if I don't get what is required I am going to run with what I have. I am going to put a mix up myself along with everyone elses. I was hoping to get 5 or 6 mixes up in one go, if that isn't possible then its going to be tough shit for those who didn't get a move on with it.

TBF I've given 3 months to get mixes and info sent to me, so if it isn't done then it is through your own fault really. If I do another set of these, it won't be with a 3 month deadline, tbh a couple of weeks should be more than enough.

Ok, so you don't have to write a novel, but a bit about yourself would be nice and good promo for you all. It really only takes 15 minutes to write it unless you are some sort of typing spaz, I mean you are talking about yourself and something you love, shouldn't be that hard.

You should all be able to message me privately now since I am back on VIP.

I need all the stuff I am requesting though as I have a specific format I want to create with this, so if it can be sorted out soonish then I can get it up because I don't really want to hang around anymore, it's already been 3 months.

Bit of a bugger not having CDJs and being limited to vinyl, but hopefully will acquire some 1000s or 800s over summer and will be able to record as many mixes as I like haha.

Marshall Jefferson ‎– The House Music Anthem “Move Your Body” was the first records to introduce him to house music and sent him on a journey that continues till this day. Born and raised in New York City, Rek Aviles was influenced by the New York underground sounds spun by veteran DJs like Danny Tenaglia and Victor Calderon. It wasn’t until the late-90s at club Twilo (NYC) where he first heard 2 DJs that would define his style. Now looked upon as his unofficial mentor, Carl Cox was the first DJ to truly introduce him to Techno. Followed by another night when he heard John Digweed for the first time. The combination of these two DJs is how he would describe his style if ever asked. EDM turned into an ugly monster, and I feel it is no longer about the quality of the music, but the amount of money that can be made. I came up in the 90's rave scene in Gainesville and Jacksonville FL and it was underground and real. We would go to the club to dance all night, having a good DJ was just a bonus. Now you have a DJ on the stage like a rockstar, and everyone watching him while he mixes, completely unable to see what he is or is not doing.

I guess what I am getting at is this music is meant to be danced to. What about the producers that make the music the DJ plays? Well, I guess now all producers are DJ's.

I want you to hear music you never have before that is going to blow your mind. I want to take this music and blend it in a way that you will forget about all the bullshit and take a journey, and dance.

ps. hope I made the cut....getting rady to post a 3 hour mix all 1605. I have a few I have done lately.

Great mixes everyone! Really enjoyed the different styles each one of you had. Need more of these!

Will probably do another lot at some point, although because this was all US/CAN DJ's I'd probably do a European DJs one next.

Was thinking of doing a production one too, but then, I am not sure how many of you that play techno also produce?
