That Marathon stuff looks like what I started out using over 20 years ago. Looks big and impressive (which makes you think it is good when you're a teenager) but eventually you learn that there's plenty of much, much better quality stuff out there at half the size and weight that will easily outperform it (sound and output wise). This good stuff is much more expensive of course...

Nice system Audiopyle.

It would probably take about 5 Bose systems with 20 of their bass modules to match the output of that RCF TT :D

Thanks that speakers are not marathon , just these shitty amps. there some weird brand DNF.

Upgraded my tops to RCF 312A last year, upgrading my subs this year from Mackie SRS1500 (hidden under table). Looking at a Danley TH-118. Also going to get into some LED lighting and ditch the Vue II. Then upgrade my tops again at some point. The facade is just PVC draped with crushed velvet but works for about $50.

Two MacBooks, Traktor Kontrol S4, Line 6 XD-V70 wireless mic, Audix OM-5 mic, and a Mackie Onyx 1220 mixer tying it all together. Just got a big Road Ready mixer case from Mike Pyle with 4-racks below so will probably be moving over to that shortly to get rid of an SKB case that's on the floor with my Furman AR-1215 and ADJ Light Co-Pilot.

The white MacBook is the backup and runs iTunes or MegaSeg for cocktail hour. Also has an older version of Traktor that I run via keyboard just in case but might pick up a Numark DJ2GO just for basic mixing if I ever need it.

audiopyle & Brom, nice RCF systems you guys have going on there.

unsafe8989, how you sneak a picture of a SRX JBL & Crown Itech system into your list of pictures? I see you're still mix matching your subs, as I remember you was given advice on that on the old DJFM. Your rack while not top of the line does at least look clean & not over cluttered with useless processing usually seen cluttering entry level racks. While I don't agree with some of your gear selections in your racks it is a decent entry level system so for that I say "nice", however your speakers selection needs work. (Didn't you just post a video on Youtube recently for your speakers?).

I usually do have help moving stuff in & out, but I can set up the columns & subs by myself in about 20 minutes. It takes longer to route the cables & deal with wireless mics and such than it takes to have the PA up & ready to go. That's why I am making the switch from my previous system that used passive SLS LS8695 columns.

I posted a quick review on soundforums.net in this thread: http://soundforums.net/product-reviews/2586-auditioning-rcf-ttl11a-tts26a.html

Sound quality & output are excellent. The event they are set up for in the pics was a 20,000 sq ft room with more than 1000 people in the room at times, over 1600 total attendance.

Pretty much. You can see in the photos I have 2 small tops on the truss that are angled to cover the back corners behind the columns. That 's all the sound for the whole room.

What kind of trussing is that?

Also - weren't you using some SLS gear in a similar fashion a while ago? How do they compare to the RCF TT stuff?

The truss is Global 12" box, about 62' of it in the air with the stands about 40' apart. My SLS system has more capacity than the RCFs, but the RCFs are easier to haul and set up. With the TTL11A proving to be adequate for the largest events I'm currently booking I've decided to sell the SLS system.

Hey Gaffle - my wife and I are buying a house later this summer and I'm going to have my own music room/office. I showed her your pic and she was not amused. :D

Later this spring I'm starting with one TH-118 to upgrade from my pair of 11-year-old Mackie SRS1500s. Not sure how long I'll be able to hold off from buying a second one. Any word on when you're getting your third?

6x THT
4x t39 slim
2x otop12
2x otop 2x12
2xwiarray prototype tops

Processing ashly NE8800
Amps: QSC PL/RMX and ashly FTX (note the box fan)

Very Nice! How do you like the KW152's? Do those JTR Triple 8's blow them away?

Those are QSC HPR 122i tops & they are very smooth sounding but a pair isn't enough to keep up to the Growlers once they start hitting full throttle. This is where the JTR Trple 8x come into play since a pair do a good job keeping up with six Growlers with a little holding back on the Growlers.

FINALLY got my new rig tuned and tested outside today... I stand heartily by my claims of it handling most school gyms as well as outdoors with relative ease. Walked to about 200 ft away and still sounded lovely. Like I was a few feet from my speakers still.

Up until today, its been too busy around here to get 'er tuned up! Took me only 30 minutes for both setup and strike!

A pair of Behringers EUROLIVE B815NEO's
A Pair of Mackie SA1521's
These sound great together and allows me to go big or small. Either of these can go on stands if i really want but the Mackies sound better on the ground. I could use a Sub in addition to this setup. sorry for the blurry pic.

They sounded awesome. I am very happy with them. This was my first event with them out. I had the sub gain half way and certain songs i think the subs out weighed the tops but it did sound great. I actually got compliments on how good it sounded. I know for a fact I could have pushed the tops and subs a lot harder. Didn't even come close to hitting the limiter light on the tops or subs once throughout the night so I know I could have pushed much more if needed.

Personally of the lot I would keep the PRX system (four PRX-XLF subs & four PRX tops) & keep the QSC as monitors, this way the system would be scalable for larger gigs but he has a nice collection going there all the same.

@Huggumz&Incognito, Thanks, I am adding another prx 618s-xlf sub in a couple of weeks and by year end will be adding 2 more prx tops. I use the QSC K12's primarily for cocktail hours and ceremonial settings. I have owned the EONs for awhile and never thought about selling them I still use them on occasion at non-formal events small gatherings and as emergency backups just in case.

Maybe, but I am not 100% sure you want to FEEL it..... Very potent.

Indeed it is. I took all 4 Orbit Shifters out for a test run on my QSC PLX 3602 and I was surprised at how well the subs performed and how well the amp did at dual 2.6 ohm loads. At full power the managers of the venue told me that neighbors across the street 3 stories up were complaining about the bass so I had to turn it down. This is where I had the attenuators for most of the night. I only tickled the -10 indicators. Even outside as I sat in my van, I could feel them. http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/djbman/Facebook/JTR%20Speakers%20invades%20the%20Super%20Jam%202%2 0Party/464686_10150591299725163_513370162_9262132_9560256 99_o.jpg

This is the largest system I ever put on the road for touring. Turned 40 years old in the back of a 52' tractor trailer one night and decided I didn't want to turn 50 in the same place. Days later I quit touring and started selling, designing and installing.

http://i45.tinypic.com/311xs3l.jpg

Today I turned 62 and for the small gigs that I do now, I have a KV2 Audio System (my favorite,) an EV system and an original Mackie SA 1521 x 4 system

You sir have the system of inspiration, to think they perform so well on a budget (respectively speaking) amp without even reaching the full potential output of the amp...

Only thing I would of done differently from what you show in your picture would be to place one Triple 12x on a staging spread out a little on either side of the cluster of Obit Shifters.

I've done that in the past and what has happened is A people get to close to the stands and the T12's start "swaying" or B everyone climbs on top of the orbit shifters and dances on them (this is when I "gently" yank people down). With this configuration, I decided to "kill 2 birds with 1 stone." Also, this is an atrium with a "grandballroom staircase." The speakers are on the main level and i'm standing on the 2nd landing. There's no place to put the T12's without the crowd bumping into them.

Not designed as monitors, they beam too much in singles. They're actually not deployed properly at all in that pic. Last I checked, Justin (wisound) had them on the back burner. They're a Keele type CBT array. Full three way, with the amp doing all the processing (Ashly PE, built in dsp, lots of channels) It's designed to be flown, and use 8 per side if I recall correctly.

OT: The fellow with the gameboy is "Saskrotch" A local (chicago) chiptunes artiest.

That show He show'd up with a pillow to set his laptop up on. Show before that one he was running into issues with his mac, it would bootup and promptly shut itself off. He couldn't recreate it back home.

The bass was to much for the laptop, and it went into protect as to not damage the harddrives platter.

I've never seen anyone rock with a gameboy the way he does. proper.

Typical small setup with one of my (many) sets of powered speakers (YX15Ps in this case). This was for a 40th anniversary. I don't do uplighting or anything too fancy - most of what I do are anniversaries, smaller weddings and dances for older folks. BTW everything was connected when I took the photo, I try to hide wires as much as is possible and yes I did move the box in the back so that it was not visible - I should have moved it for the pic of course...)

No, those RCF's are just for small gigs, house parties and rental. I use a pair of EV QRX 212/75's and ZXa5's for additional coverage. I'm thinking a pair of QRX's would be adequate with four TH-118's. It may be on the bass heavy side but I'll have plenty headroom to spare.

Thanks Gaffle... The subs are JBL SRX 4719A replicas. They are loaded with RCF L18P300s. They were just painted in this pic. The grey behind the grill is from the foam which I did spray shortly after looking at this pic last week. And I definitely like the XS amps. Yes, that's a 30 amp plug on top. An L14-30 that is broken down for rack power in a rack mounted distro in the top, since those Peavey CS800s like to draw heavy on the AC Power. If you run it hard enough, that old-ish Pyramid amp just below the distro can pull semi-hard on the AC...

If there was a pro audio hall of fame, the original Peavey CS line of power amps would for show be a main feature there, one of the most reliable amps ever made (but HEAVY in comparison to their rated power). I pulled an old Peavey CS400 out of a land fill (after it had been sitting half way buried for a couple days while it had been exposed to the rain & elements) from when the American military base had pulled out back in 1995, it worked flawless for years (I used it for my C rig made up of scrap gear back in the mid 90's but I do remember how clean the system sounded & fooled a lot of people who had based the system on looks alone.) that that I used to just practice on or for real rough gigs) I ended up selling it once I no longer had any use for it & the new owner had it for years without issue with my seeing it still in action about six years ago.

I haven't seen a better (older model) amp for pushing older subs... Those CS800s and 1200s have BALLS. Also pretty easy to repair, with fairly simple circuits and many of the parts aren't hard to find or substitute; lots of repair and modding info online too.

Looks like a SKB Gig Rig but I could be wrong.

It was more for looks that anything. They had about 600 people there, but the sub amps weren't even at 50% to handle the gig.

I'm guessing weddings are a little bit different around here... Most weddings I do are huge parties that go until the wee hours in the morning. (This one was no exception and I heard that many people kept partying long after I was gone...) (We don't have any real good clubs to speak of anywhere near by, so people get their fill at a good wedding!) This particular one was held in a small town (population less than 1,000) and there were over 600 people at the reception/dance, many from hours away. Every spare room in town was rented and many people slept in their vehicles. I heard the crowd went through 5-6 kegs of beer, about 4 dozen bottles of red-eye and apple pie, and damn near drank the bar at the hall dry (many, many cases of beer and bottles of liquor).

Yes, I do some weddings that are scaled back with far less system and more of your typical uptown wedding, but these small town bashes are by far my favorite type!

4 310As just like me and 720Ps too. I would need to get a second 720P soon, but I've bought so many tops to test/review - I've got no $$$ left for more speakers :-) My single 720P has actually done quite well by itself for the types of bookings I do, which are mostly smaller weddings and anniversaries (or dances for old folks). Corner/wall loading the720P makes such a BIG difference...

^^^^^ Do you have the jumper cables (powercon) to connect your subs to top? I usually run power to the sub then jump to the top. Times when I can't center my subs I love the fact I can just use the jumper. I find it so funny when other DJs try to setup the speakers and have no clue what the blue plug is for. That just let's me know they don't need to be touching my stuff in the first place. One more ? Do you leave the ZXa5 in full range when using the subs (if running to the sub first that is)?

yes but i set mine up like you do with the sub center clustered so i only use it with the subs. if im not using a processor yes the zxa5 is in full range and i use the sub crossover output.

Nah only the full shots. Those were done for my partner since the main audio was his. I have some close up shots of the last one I think but I didn't upload them to fb. The 4 VTC are stacked on the 4 Danley which are coupled with all 4 mouths to each other. The amp racks which were qsc pl were placed by the stacks.

Same audio upstairs & downstairs. Main dance floor is on the ground & VIP & DJ up top. When it is fairly empty there is an echo so we kept the upstairs down so the DJ wouldn't get thrown off too much.

Thanks, the large system is a guy a work with. He actually added on to it. Now he has 16 VTC tops to do 8 per side so his rig doesn't run as hard. Total system easily covers 4000 for a rock show which is what most of his gigs are. I focus on the DJ gigs.

Stunning mate, we did stock a lot of d&b C7 & d&b C4 but i can safely say this system walks all over it. You need a min or 3 tops a side (4 and it start to work well) but we offen do 4 subs with 8 tops and cover 700 cap venues... Everything is power which mean we can split the system up with ease :) The only we do which is a MUST on anything larger than 2 bins / 6 tops is use a system controller like a XTA226 so you can adjust all of the subs or all of the tops in one hit :)

vinn504

Their 6000's and no, I do DJ work and most of the places I play I'm lucky if I have two dedicated circuits. I have it wired up where I plug in two amps on one 20 amp circuit. Most of the time I only use one stack a side unless I'm playing out side.

Incognito
01-16-2013, 08:40 PM
At 1/8th power pink noise which is typical of program material just before clipping the Crown Itech 6000 at 4 ohms per channel draws 11.6 amps each so I hope you're not pushing your system too hard & that the 2 circuits available are dedicated 20 amp circuits at the least. Considering the 80% constant draw rule on any given circuit you should be considering factoring a distro or getting more circuits made available to you if you want to safely run your system to potential considering you're still not factoring any voltage drops or the rest of your gear for that matter. There's more to this business then plug, play & cross fingers with the hope all works out for the best, when you start getting into the kind of power your system has you need to step up to the next level on all levels otherwise one day you're not going to like the outcome.

vinn504
01-16-2013, 09:08 PM
I don't plug them all in on a 20 amp circuit. I play mostly small bars and only bring in half of the equipment. I know what you mean tho.

Motion Labs is my other choice. We have a few of these as well in our warehouse. Almost all of our distros at Clair are Motion Labs.

Both are customizable however you want it built. For Djing I would recommend the Lex boxes. I'm thinking about adding one so I stop taking them from the production side.

15" Peavey BWX-Loaded Long-Throw subwoofer unit (1)
Peavey CS-800 power amps (2)
Behringer UB1224FX-Pro (1)
Vestax VMC-004 (1)
Computer that's running VDJ.
Electrovoice PL11 ('80s vintage) dynamic professional graded mic (1) with 2 PL76 condensers as spares.
Global Truss 8" triangle truss (1 8' stick)
Odyssey Crank stands + Monster Truss adapters
Chauvet MINSpot (2x)
American DJ Reflex (1)

O' Hai Light-o! I made the speakers myself. They're 10x10x48", which is pretty small and easy to transport.

They contain 8 5.25" Sony neo magnet speakers that can take 20 watts each. Wired in series/parallel, they can withstand upto 175 watts. Their SPL is 85dB 1W, 1M. Also have a vertical strip of eight piezo tweeters in there, arrayed at around 3/4" apart center to center.
When you put eight 5 1/4s and eight piezos together, you get an SPL in the mid 90s with a watt RMS.

When driven at -6dB, I was seeing 109dB C-weighted on the dancefloor with nobody there yet, distance was around 30 feet, centered and even off-axis. I run the sound through 2 Peavey CS800s, one for tops, one for subs... With just a Behringer CMX-3400 on the processing. I use minimal processing, since I feel that less is more.

Processing can best be described as a simple crossing over at ~120 Hz so that the tops dont get pushed too hard. I use a pair of 15" long-throw subs to cover the low end... They're mean sounding with minimal processing. The whole rig is capable of beig heard intelligably and easily over a city block as I found out last July.

I'm primarily a sound guy, expanding into the DJ market.

Main rig: Unity15's over LS800p's easy enough to double up if I need to.
IPR3000 to power the U15's

Other speakers I use, monitors etc:

4 - YX15's
6 - YX12's

All powered by IPR1600's, Line6 wireless mics, XD-V70 & XD-V75
Mac Mini & Router in the top case
http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z398/robare99/1fc36f69.jpg

Still deciding on the DJ controller I'll use, along with the facade etc.

Light rig:
This light rig is for bands, normally on a 15' truss.
6 - Blizzard 3NX's
6 - Chauvet pinspot 360 LED
4 - Martin Minimac Profiles

I was just working on some scenes. I'll skip the pinspots on the top, and add a Hemisphere 5.1 on each end and a couple more fixtures. I have 4 more Minimac Profiles, 2 more Blizzard 3 NX's, 4 Blizzard Fab5's and 4 more pinspot 360's as well. 4 more 3NX's are on the way, which will give me a dozen of them.

I'm thinking of setting up the DJ light rig when I get everything, and replacing the 6 3NX's on the truss, with the 4 Fab5's (my plan is to use 4 instead of 6) That will leave me a dozen 3NX's that I can use for up lighting in the hall.

I'm going to rent a local studio for a day, its like a warehouse, and then I'll be able to set up the 3 set ups I'll be offering. Take some good pics, good video of everything.

ehhhh they are OK I guess. I emailed Chauvet LAST SUNDAY about a question and I have yet to get an answer. If you set them on say the subs or on the ground the light will kill your eyes. The beam angle is VERY small too so the gobos don't get but so big. The MAJOR thing I don't like is I can't figure out how to limit the rotation on them so that they only shine forward. The manual shows how to set the auto programs but I'm not up for setting there and running each program until I see if you does this or not. Hell even my American DJ X-Move lets you chose the range of motion. I'm buying 2 q spot led next week though.

I FINALLY got together a solid, working system (tested in the Arizona desert at our first annual Fall Word Conference):

Tops: Peavey PR-15 x2
Subs: Peavey SP118 x2
Top amp: Peavey M-7000 (350 WPC at 4 ohms)
Sub amp: Peavey CS-800 (400 WPC at 4 ohms)
DOD SR835 crossover
Yamaha MW12 mixer
Denon CD/cassette deck
Peavey 215 EQ

And then some jackwagon stole most of it (everything listed above, except the subs) from my church. So (while still trying to get the current system back, as a couple of other pieces of musical gear stolen at the same time have turned up), I'm in the process of rebuilding the system.

Those PL76s are great. I used them as overheads for some drum demos awhile back; we have a pair of them as backup vocal mics at the church.

The rest of the setup looks great. If I weren't too busy/lazy (busy with some stuff, lazy on other stuff) I'd build my own line-array tops.

The entire RE/PL line is excellent (the RE and PL lines are the same mics with different finishes). The RE-11 is a version of the RE-16, which is my favorite vocal mic. The only problem is that if you handhold it, your hand blocks the grille on the handle, so it's best on a stand.

It's hard to get people to use them anymore, though - they look like they're from the 70's even though the RE-16 is still made new. I wish EV had updated their aesthetics.

Certain mics are so iconic that they wouldn't want to change them. The RE20, RE635A and RE11/16 were all hugely popular models in EV's broadcast line of mics, so they've been seen over and over again by millions of people, and represent something just by how they look. EV has lots of other microphones.

I've recently inherited a pair of 48V Phantom powered modified PL-76s, as well as a PL-11 from 1980 in my inventory, and really like how my vintage PL11 sounds on my rig. The PL76s aren't bad either. They offer a good, flat sound. Nice, tough mics too. One of my mics was stored in my (now deceased) father's humid garage in Middle TN for about 10 years - only damage from being stored out there was a corroded top grille that needs sanding and repainting.

Notice that there is very little proximity effect with the PL-11 compared to other mics. The vents in the handle allow the mic to keep it's cardioid pattern without adding a bass boost when you get close. This is one of the feature that caused the RE/PL series to be so popular. If you block those vents in the handle, however, you can throw off the sound.

Tonight I spent some time adding my new amp and my speakers to my system and setting the limiters. For my mains I have the limiter clamped at 70v, which is a couple volts under clipping. For my subs I have them at 45 volts. Tomorrow I plan to crank some volume out of the total system and eq it at work level. My mains before these ran at 25 volts, so a jump up to 70 is going to be huge! Now my previous speakers will be retired to DJ monitors when I run sound for large shows.

Amplification Gear used: 2 Peavey CS800s. DIY compact line-arrayed speakers, DIY subs loaded w/ Peavey BWX1508 woofers.
Sound gear used: 1 Electro-Voice PL11 dynamic mic, 1 Electro-Voice PL76 condenser mic, Behringer UB2442FX-Pro 16/4 mixer, Behringer CMX-3400 X-Over, and about 50 ft of XLR mic cable.

Some crappy shots of my system at a recent event. This isn't everything I have but it's a big chunk of it.
(same shots as posted in "is passive dead" thread)

Amp rack for main room system.. contains 2 x PLX3402's driving 4 bi-amped Community RS325 tops, PL6 driving 2 x EAW FR250Z bass, and PL380 driving 4 x dual 18 custom sub-bass. With Ashly processor and Symmetrix leveler. Power from Motion Labs distro.
http://s10.postimg.org/x1aumn55l/2013_04_13_23_14_59.jpg

Home build distro.. 100A cam input, with currently 1 x L14 (which feeds sound rack), 4 x Edison, and 1 x cam output. Plan to add another L14 and possibly L21 to this. Conveniently, the venue had a 3 phase cam feed from their panel to their Lex breakout box.. so we just fed our panel from their cam cable, and fed their breakout from our panel.. giving us plenty of circuits. Besides the amp rack, we fed a bunch of video projectors and some LED lighting. All the dimmers belonged to the venue and were already powered, so that saved us a lot of trouble... RacPac in amp rack fed APC PDU's (20A power strips) for booth and backstage power.
http://s10.postimg.org/pmliu9ja1/2013_04_13_23_15_28.jpg

Second room setup showing 1 x PLX3402 and 2 x PLX3002, 1 x PL4, with EAW FR153 tops in front, 2 x EAW FR250Z subs, plus 3 small meyer subs.. out of picture is three more meyer tops doing delay fills. Ashly processor.
http://s7.postimg.org/q9153wiqz/DSC_7171.jpg

One of two main stacks in main room.. as well as FR250Z bass fills...
http://s7.postimg.org/v8ylbuodn/DSC_7125.jpg

Main room backstage area with lighting consoles (venue's ETC Express 250 and my Avolites Azure 2000. I ended up running both their and my DMX from the Azure.. it was easier for me to get the patterns I wanted on the Azure. In the second room they had an Express 24/48 which I used.) Mackie board mixing DJ with 3 mics and a wireless receiver.
http://s7.postimg.org/51xefw63v/DSC_7114.jpg

Closer view of back room racks.. normally the 8u rack is a complete front system but since I didn't know what I'd be dealing with, I brought the extra amps. The processor has 12 outputs so it can handle everything.
http://s7.postimg.org/yd998n563/DSC_7172.jpg

Front stack in main room.. went to burning man and back, and never got a paint job after that.. so they look pretty bad, but sound good! As it turns out, this was a burner event, so the fact that my speakers were covered with playa dust was not weird to them and did not cause any concern.
http://s7.postimg.org/pm6ts4b8r/DSC_7122.jpg

Note that the tops are inverted (mids and highs toward the bottom) to bring it to the right height for this relatively short throw compared to what this system can do. Subs are 6 feet high when stacked this way...

Thanks! the photo makes them look dirty, well because they were. Too many outdoor swimming parties, too much wet feet and mud on top of them. One of the reasons why I use duratex; because it's waterproof.

what the spl of a t60 ?

for the pair of single 12s it is 127db at 25hz, which is 400 watts.
at 60 hz it is 133db, still at 400 watts. and this is before you wall or corner load them!
Corner loaded at 25hz is 139db!

I love these things!

I didn't measure it, it is projected, accurately. 50v is a 26db increase, fro m 101 DB sensitivity. Then you add the 12 DB from corner loading.

Here are a couple of shots from a festival I worked on a month or so ago.. not the best pix because by the time I got around to taking any photos, the stage was fully obscured by spandex and the speakers really hard to see... but someone took this photo halfway through setup. In the front photo you see my usual stuff.. 4 x dual 18 (18LW1400), 4 x EAW FR250Z and 4 x Community RS325.. but set up in a weird way due to the stage layout being really difficult. In the amp rack is a PL380 driving the 18's, PL6 driving the 15's, and two PLX3402's driving the tops bi-amped. Ashly processor, Symetrix leveler and on top there barely visible is the laptop/wifi setup for remote control of the processor. DJ setup is ZXA1's for monitors, Ecler mixer and Pioneer CDJ's...

Those who have been on these forums for a while have seen my setups where I bring far more amps.. but now I have it down to one rack.. But even with these better amps I still carry less power than I used to.. I came to the conclusion that this is enough for what I do most of the time and it's a lot easier and more reliable this way.

Newest members of the family.. was browsing craigslist and could not resist this deal! Two EAW FR153z's.. one of em needs the HF driver diaphragm replaced, the other.. someone took out and lost the whole HF driver and horn. But, the price.. only $300.. so even with repairs they will come out to only around $500 total for the pair.. they sell for more than double that (used) :)

Great find light, there was a guy locally selling a pair of 9 year old EAW LA 325 speakers that where in pretty rough shape & required a bit of work & replacement parts. There's a church that required a new sound system & I was going to get these to put up on the small stage which would be plenty for their requirements. The seller was asking $3,200 each & this was marked down from his original asking price of $3,800 each, some people just don't know how to go about assessing the current value of things so I had to pass.

Yea those LA325's are a really nice sounding speaker.. The bigger louder brother of the 153 but still pretty hifi sounding :). I would love a pair of them. But that is WAY too much money for them if they need work. As far as the 153.. As you know I've had the older non trap model for years now and nursed them along with new capacitors and new mid drivers and they still sound fantastic.. I don't know why they aren't more popular among DJs. Those speakers are my secret weapon just about.. So clean sounding. I'm interested to give a listening test vs the older version once in have them repaired.
