DL the latest version of Itch and build your overviews. By having your library ready, you can plug it up right away and start spinnin'

Been building playlists for the last couple of months. I saw a nice Odyssey case for it. This thing won't be moving anywhere for awhile though. Possible party in 2 months. Thanks guys

I think you're pretty limited for the most part until you get the EFX unit, but it's a start. Most importantly though, enjoy your purchase and have fun!

you mean the NS7FX? That's the one I plan on getting. Does it just add effects?

If ur into effects get the nsfx. Eventually curiosity will make you buy it anyway. And yes, it just adds effects. The ns7 is possibly the greatest controller ever made. No real tips as everything is self explanatory on the controller. Just get familiar with itch.

Ok, I also like that the NS7 will help me transition to other system if I need too

Shouldn't be a problem transferring to other systems. Remember that you won't find sync in Scratch. Also, I miss the loop shift feature on the ns7.

Sync is on the NS7 though right......Don't plan on using it much at first. need to get this beatmatching down

Any ideas what I can put this on....just thought about it and I have absolutely nothing to have my home dj set up on. I will be using my home pc for until that new Sammy laptop comes out (SS9). I would assume some type of table where I can stand up and use

I used a height adjustable 4' table. I still have it. I love that thing.

Get a $40 keyboard scissor stand. Put the lid of your flight, open end down onto the stand. Put the NS7 with bottom of flight case on top of that. The corners of your flight case are designed to stack this way.
What genre do you spin? Depending on that will tell me if you need the fx bar or not. I have it and NEVER use it. I honestly think it's shit. But I love my NS7 and Itch. Video will be available soon.
Next tip, DO NOT use the SYNC button. It will cause more harm than do you any good. Trust me, your mixes will come out like shit switching the SYNC on and off.
If you need aid like me, look at the visual tools to help with beat matching. There are three tools. 1. Waveform (use the + and - button on your keyboard to zoom in/out on waveforms) 2. Little ticks next to the waveforms 3. Peak thing (Red and Yellow visual aid - slide the pitch and match these up). There is also a beatgrid feature that I DO NOT recommend using but to each their own.
Buy a Mac Book Pro if you don't already have one. That will be your best purchase as a dj.

I plan on spinning mostly hip hop then move into other genres. I don't have a flight case yet so not sure if the keyboard stand would be sufficient without it. don't think I will get too heavy into effects until I get the basics down. Been too excited about the Samsung Series 9 (2012) to give the Mac book much of a though. But until some reviews and the actual machine come out for the 15" model I won't make a purchase. They are the same price point. I'm pretty computer savvy so I don't worry too much about that.
Oan, you guys ever used zzounds.com? I see they have a play as you pay option which looks very attractive. Would get the Odyssey flight case from their with laptop stands if everything sounds good with it. Thanks for the help guys!!!!! much appreciated

Trust me dude, I'm savy too but you will be VERY dissappointed when you try to spin with ITCH on a PC. It's complete shit. 99% of DJ's use a mac for a reason. Don't be fooled.
zzounds is great, pricing is good. I've bought from them before.
Keyboard stand will work just fine. Buy the flightcase before you buy effects. The effects are shitty for hip hop anyway, they only one that's good is the echo which you can create without the nsfx by using the loop "1" button and fading out slightly on fader.
If you're interested I have the effects bar and a flight case facade/stand I'll sell and ship to you.

ive used numark NS7/NS6/V7 and the vestex VCI 300 all Run itch on window machines.
I've done the following:
- laptop with Windows 7 > works fine
- 3 different desktop computers with Windows 7 and Vista > works fine - no issues
- ive seen it used on my friends old IBM laptop with XP just fine + his new asus laptop without any issues.
I've DJ'ed countless times with Itch and a PC computer..
to the OP, the NS7fx is awesome!! i love this unit... i first learned DJ on the NS7, then sold my NS7 for real turntables & rana mixer, then a few weeks ago, i bought the NS7fx again cuz i needed something that didn't take soo much space (my turntables/mixer is now in storage for when i gig at clubs)

Thanks for the advice guys. Took me about 2 hours to get the total unit set up, I'm very meticulous, so I took it apart a bunch of times. Platters weren't tiight and the culprit was a lose screw. After the unit was setup my impatience got the best of me and I hooked it up in the wrong order, but all is good now. I've just been familiarizing myself with all of the controls as of now. Will get into all the harder stuff later on. Picked the 5' table instead, it just seemed more useful. haven't had any trouble on my win7 machine. Runs very smooth.....1% for me!!!

where can i buy one of these & is it stable? no shaking?
No shaking. I bought mine at Sam's Club for $40. I've seen them at Walmart, Target, Costco, and office supply stores.
Those tables are versatile. I use them for all sorts of stuff.

Hey, I also have the NS7 but I have the FX as well. Just to let you know Serato Itch works just fine with PC's. The only issue is PC's with AMD processors (which I have). My NS7 works perfectly except it does not work with the FX bar unfortunately. But, everything else works even though Serato doesn't support PC's with AMD processors.

IIRC, AMD isn't supported because of the Athlon chipsets from back in the day. Modern multi code chipsets should be fine even without Serato's support.
Anyways, you're saying that the NSFX doesn't work? Its a straight MIDI module, so it should always work - even in USB 1.1 ports! Try a different port. Seriously, the NSFX sends less data than your keyboard; there's no reason why that shouldn't work.

Yeah, I gotta try it out on another port. I have a 6 core Athlon so I know my computer is fast enough...

I've actually had a few issues with the NSFX when I had my NS7. At the time, my macbook was pretty much new. It worked fine but it would give me a heart attack on occasion as the screen would freeze for a few seconds when using the NSFX

That probably had more to do with your files and not the macbook. Try to run a scan + repair and also update ITCH. I had a few freezes because of a few .mp3's being corrupt. Even if you don't play them, they still cause issues in ITCH.

I would get the VFX-1 instead of the NSFX. The VFX-1 works with Itch or Serato and does the same thing as the NSFX. I use mine with my NS7, V7's, VCI-300mk2 and SSL. I like it better than the built in effects unit on the V7's. If you need a cheap table, look on craigslist. You can probably get a free computer table there. Just throw away the hutch. There are people on craigslist that give away free furniture because, they either have to move in a hurry, or don't want to haul their stuff to the dump.
