Yesterday, we told you about South Beach's Mansion kicking its headliner Dennis Ferrer off the decks mid-set for not playing "commercial enough."

Well, the Opium Group is still unavailable for comment. But Dennis Ferrer has disclosed some more details about the incident on the Deep House Page forums.

"Gettin' taken off decks is quite a sobering and humbling experience and one I shall not want to be repeated," Ferrer wrote on Monday.

He also mentions some of the tracks that weren't considered "commercial enough" by Mansion: Storm Queen's "Look Right Through" (Jamie Jones Remix), Phil Weeks' "Jack to my Groove," and Subb-an's "This Place" (Nic Fanciulli Remix).

What's more, Ferrer claims the club knew very well what they were getting into musically when they hired him and it was actually a deliberate choice to showcase Ferrer's style of music. "It was reported that they were willing to try a bit of a directional reversal," Ferrer says. "It was even twittered by many as so. We had played there twice before, trying to develop something, and it seemed to be working out. But people come and people go and directions get switched in an hour!"

He adds, "I threw my hands up and got asked to be off after around 40 minutes...no harm no foul..I laughed..tweeted.. got over my initial anger and kept it moving.

"Sad though to see tons of beautiful young people being force fed what I tend to believe is a misrepresentation of the EDM culture. But wtf.. who am I to say what sounds good and doesn't...everyone has got opinions like they have what again?"

Sure, everyone has opinions like expletives. But this incident has definitely rallied hundreds, maybe thousands of EDM fans across the web who share the same opinion that megaclubs like Mansion are helping to lower the standards of music in Miami and beyond

Will share my comments in a bit... But to sum it up (as a producer, house dj who is trying to build a rep).

Fuck.

Interesting take on the situation:

It's beyond being careful with posting online. It's about realizing how posting online, interacting via social media and giving people access to you via the digital eavesdrop will either earn you goodwill (as long as you maintain the exchange) or get you pulled down in the undertow of people's addiction to controversy. Like any addiction, the user needs a little more to get high each time. Fans will EXTRACT what they want from you if you're not giving it to them. If you're tweeting/status up******/otherwise opening up on the daily (or in some artist's/professional's cases, hourly), what's the next level you ramp up to? Letting them move in with you?

Just watch the dynamic unfold right in this thread:

Then Dave finds this:

"I was shocked to see this booking because he was on record as being disappointed with his asian gigs where he was expected to play cheesy non-underground music to satisfy fist-pumpers and mafia dons at the big clubs. Apparently Mansion did not go too well regardless of where you stand on the musical direction debate."
BOOM! There it is. Ferrer's words live on WITHOUT HIM! His mouth is closed, but it's as if he's still speaking. And JUST LIKE THAT, now he ain't playin' Mansion, plus those handing out "asian gigs" are now aware he may have had a problem over there as well. And folks are using terms such as "on record", even though there probably isn't a record because it hasn't been cited. That "on record" account may not even be true, but no one cares if it's true. Just if it's searchable. If it was true, and Dennis' mind changed with the benefit of hindsight, who is up****** the ENTIRE F'IN INTERNET of that?!

And now, I've contributed to the searchability the question. And if I'm not careful with the next words I type, I could keep the question alive and even expand on it. BOOM!

You can't run "record store talk" through Google Translate one time and email that shit to someone booking "asian gigs".

If you're not weilding it to your advantage, you're taking chances with it's dangers. Better to close all your shit then be on the business end of a Twitter feed run amuck.

Case in point: there are now legions of Nicki Minaj followers who, before they saw Jill Scott's passive/aggressive criticism of her Grammy performance, didn't have to consider whether they have room in their iTunes library for both Minaj and Scott's music. Had she not said shit, she may have been able to get Minaj on a featured rhyme on her next big single. Now she can say, for a fact, she can take Minaj fans off the list of potential album buyers.

I won't bring up how I've been advising y'all to go professional with your social media and any other marketing since 2004. I also won't bring up how I told all y'all vinyl was going to make a huge comeback (though I may go to that thread and gloat a bit. Haha!)

Be careful, niggaz.

Well, unfortunately, there are thousands of uneducated promoters, club owners and many other DJs who don't really know what they want and just follow what other people want. In other words, they have no taste of their own. So they follow the trend which in most case, is about commercialism and mainstream. :uhoh:
