View Full Version : Bracket to hold a large flat panel monitor on a speaker stand?

I have an idea of using a speaker stand and some sort of bracket that could bolt to the back of an LCD Monitor and then slide over the speaker pole to use for a karaoke application. Any ideas if they make such a thing or maybe other ideas on how to accomplish this?

I don't currently have lights so I don't have a truss or anything to mount it to. It would be for the audience to view the song so I would like to have a monitor on it that is good sized.

Probably a 32-40" TV... get a branded TV mount.. drill two holes in the enter of the frame, and attach 2 O-Clamps.

So I've got a 27" lcd monitor and a 21" monitor. The smaller of the two is going to be placed on a karaoke stand with mic holders. The bigger one, as I said, I would like to fashion to a speaker stand or something similar that I can put out so the crowd can see.

I am contemplating using the idea DYM suggested but was wondering if there are other options?

Also, Can lcd monitors be left out in the cold and heat or should they be brought in after every gig?

Looking forward to the pictures.myself, may be adding a medium sized TV soon. What do you mount it on, t-bar, plain stand, or totem?

You don't need to drill hole's. just get the tv mounts ( I got the 15" to 27" from walmart like $20. Then I got the O clamps (Plastic one's) and mounted it to back of the TV Mount and attached it to the Monitor. Make sure you have mounting bracket hole's on your Lcd's. I have 2x21 Dell Monitors' & 2x27" lcds. I just put this together to show you what I mean. The 21's are for the singer's and the 27 are for the crowd. But I wouldnt go over a 32" on the speaker stands.

Here are a few images of the way i made my bracket. It doesn't hold tight to the speaker stand but all it would take is a second tube that is about 2" in diametor that would fit around the speaker stand and would allow the clamps to actually tighten on the tube. I have 2" clamps, but 1.5" clamps would do too. It is very sturdy for what it is and i've had good feedback. I've also mounted it to a box truss for a wedding expo, and could do so at any wedding.

This is exactly what I was looking for (for karaoke)! This is awesome! Please post the parts list. I wanna make sure I get the right parts. Like what model for the TV mount and what size O-Clams (1.5"?).

I like these ideas as well and agree with Fabioq, if you could post a parts list that would be very helpful. Thanks again.

And can any one tell me if LCD monitors can survive the heat and cold of being left in the trailer or should they be brought in everytime?

Lcd's can stand the heat and cold outside. I wouldn't store them.

As For a trailer they will be ok.

I store all Mines in Anvil Cases.

And I Run Monitors for my karaoke since there cheaper and im doing them mobile.

Thanks for the links. So just so I have this straight, lcd's are ok to leave in a trailer for a short while but I shouldn't leave them out there between gigs?

And could you possibly shoot me some good links to those anvil cases.

this is exactly how I mount mine, but I mounted a 42 led tv. Does just fine. Just don't let people get too close! lol

I pack up anything electronic and bring it in after every gig - no matter how tired I am. If you read any of the manuals for electronics they give you the min and max temps - but I don't take any chances, too expensive. All my poles, stands, and any other non-electronic I still bring out of the car but leave in the garage. Take care of yo stuff and it will take care of you!

The speaker mount ideas are awesome though!

It gets pretty cold here. I too bring in my electronics every night. I also always, always, always bring in the hazer. One night i was laying in bed ready to go to sleep after a long hard day and remembered i had left the hazer out in the truck. I got out of bed and went out to get it because i can't afford to have something freeze up and ruin it on the inside...

Thanks for the links, I'm definitely ordering these. I like that they're more compact. I actually have this:

http://www.opentip.com/Electronics-Computers/Audio-Asty-Entire-Top-Assembly-For-Astx-p-3094361.html

But I hate the microphone extensions on each side (I never use them), it makes it a awkward to carry or store, so I had been looking for something like this. Your suggestion is also cheaper!

So I've got another problem I need your help with. The 27" monitor I received as a gift does not have the screw holes on the back for a bracket. It only has a small odd shaped hole on the bottom that fits the base. Does anyone have any ideas how I could mount this thing on a speaker stand?

Where do you get the plastic tubing? I ordered a couple O clamps that you linked but they didn't come with one.

Although, it really doesn't matter at this point because I found out the monitor doesn't have VESA mounting spots.

So if anyone has other ideas I would appreciate them. The monitor is a Samsung S27A350H.

It appears on newegg.com that there is no mounting options at all. If thats the case, I would try and either make something out of steel or aluminum. Go to Lowes/Home Depot and get a piece of 5" wide steel by 3'? Bend it in some type of "L" shape. Drill a couple holes in the bracket so you can mount your o-clamps to them and attach to the speaker stand. Then, get some of these type bases for zip ties ( http://images3.cableorganizer.com/adhesive-clips-bases/images/01-adhesive-base_red-cable-tie.jpg ). Attach a couple bases to the back of your monitor. Set you monitor on the bracket, and zip tie the back to the bracket/stand.

This is far from "ideal", but looks like if there are no mounting holes at all on your monitor, there may not be a whole lot of options.
