I have yet another switch that needs to be replaced on my 05 Pro III. In the past I have ordered the part with the base plate and wiring harness connector all together as one unit which costs about $40. I've come across this part: http://www.vstservice.com/p-450-vestax-phono-line-switch-pmc05-pro3.aspx for $25. This part needs to be soldered to the wiring harness connector and attached to the old base plate.
My question is, what makes that $25 part so different from this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102475 ?
They both look like a 2 position toggle switch. Can I use any 2 position toggle switch to fix my mixer? I'm really not fond of the stock replacement switch. I think it's too fragile, and I need something that can handle my heavy hands.

Yes, as long as it's DPST (double-pole, single-throw)

Logic would you happen to know of a step by step instructional that could help me with this replacement. i don't really want to just crack it open and start tugging at pieces. any help would be greatly appreciated. also if you ended up replacing the piece with a 3rd party switch, it'd be cool to know what you went with and if it ended up being better. i had one snap off and the other is locked into line.
thank you for the time.

it's not hard. I have had to repair a lot. I have a box full of vestax parts from mixers I have used for parts and repaired in the past. It's as simple as desoldering the switch and resoldering the new switch in it's place. I like to replace mine with SHORTER switches...that are less likely to break...

Anybody have any replacement switch details( what part number, where to buy?) other than the vestax switch?

Thanks
Herb

Sorry for the delayed reply. Life's been crazy busy with my job and sudden lack of a job :squint:. Anyways, I went to Radio Shack and purchased a switch only to discover that it was too big for the Vestax. What I ended up doing as a temporary fix was solder the two connections together to make the line position work until I was able to order the $25 part from vstservice.com. It works great and they got it to me in less than a week.

My new project is replacing the LEDs on the volume meter on the mixer. Instead of green an red LEDs I'm going to make them blue and white. After that I'll be installing my SL1 in the mixer.

Oh yeah, I'm a self taught electronics tinkerer and I was having a hard time removing the old switch until I found this gadget: http://compare.ebay.com/like/161075887364?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar

I don't know how I've lived without this tool for so long. It makes replacing parts a breeze!

Going to be hard to fit a SL1 in the 05 pro 3... The circuit boards are vertical and not horizontal like the 07. I'd be interested to see if you can get it to fit

I'll probably try it this weekend. I was told it could be done, but I guess I won't know until I get to work on it. I'll post pictures once I'm done.
