And because we're well...Disc Jockeys, I'd suppose the best thing we can do is throw a night down!

I'm not exactly familiar with Toronto all that much to be honest. So if anyone has suggestions on venues or anything else, we should discuss it now and plan for later on in July/Early in August :D

yeah there aren't many places that i know of.. the only one really would be MOD club. stairs to get on stage though.

other than that its the bigger venues like Sound Academy. the small ones are often in basements or upstairs.

Me n baller can Carpool :D I have a mate who would be down to drive no problem c: if by whatever freak chance he cant we always have good old transit!

I have a couple random lights lay around a pair of B215D we could use aswell (anything else is up in storage atm :( )

As for venues, Northern Toronto has OnTheRox (Club at steels and duffrin), Modclub. Id say The Hoxton but i could see that being expensive to rent. Theres also Moskito, Ummm how about ElMochambo.

All of those places have minimal stairs :)

Sounds like everyone's got lots of good equipment to bring! I have 2 Peavey PV215D tops and a PV118D sub. The tops are pretty big and heavy and I'm not sure if they're worth bringing, the sub I could bring if we need. I know drzinc has got a real nice sound setup! As for lighting I have some Chinese micro Galaxians that we can use to point at the ceiling lol. Might get a mini kinta and a small lighting stand soon so I can bring that if I get it! I have my Numark iDJ Pro controller I could bring and mix with. :)

Tektonix lives like 5 mins away so I could probably give you a ride as I need my own vehicle to get around, it's got lots of space for equipment so we won't have to worry about that. As for accessibility, a few steps won't hurt and there's a lot of helping hand :tup:

BTW are you guys picky with music or are you guys pretty open to different genres? :P I'm open to anything and play various genres so I won't mind anything... Except heavy/death metal! :argh: :lol:

I think any genre would be fine baller, It would be good to show off the diversity of all the DJ's here and the different styles and sounds :)

Back to OnTheRox though, I know that would be ideal for us northerners as its closer than downtown, free parking blah blah blah. They have loads of lights (lasers, scanners, everything) and a bangin sound system installed already! So it would be pretty much plug in and play for the most part.

Personally i usually play super open format, multigenre sets. It can start with Tech House and end up in DnB with just about anything inbetween :lol:

no competition with my friends haha. i learn quick, make the right friends and take chances.. definitely has helped with gigs since i started. it amazes me at how after 2 years of screwing around, mixing, going to shows and getting personal training from me, some of my friends still cant mix for shit. got my first small gig a month after starting.. first club gig within about 4 months. still yet to disappoint.

Promotion wise, I'd say it would be wise to get an online flyer or something, facebook even page ect... whatever we need and start marketing this by social media as soon as we can, Physical media we can figure out in a bit but i know that social media is the number 1 way to get things out there so that would be good if we could get it out there as soon as possible and start inviting and all that!:) So i guess graphics, name for the event and whatnot else would need to be figured out soon :D

I was thinking the other night, Came up with a few ideas and nothing seems to be to poppin at the moment so may aswell throw it out there :)

What if instead of a club we just rented out a hall or empty event space or something? We all seem to have enough equipment (especially for sound and DJ setups). It would probably cut costs considerably as to my knowledge it would be much more expensive and risky to rent an actual club out. We may have to rent a few things sure (lights for example if we don't have enough). I know baller and I are both not 19 quite yet so pulling a crowd into a club could be problematic as where if you didn't have to worry about age restrictions we could increase the amount of people going too possibly. Seperate 19+ section or something if need be. Create more of a rave type environment that way you don't feel as prone to playing the beatport top 100 aha. This way you could play whatever it is your feeling and best at, Make it about the music.

Idk...I'm just rambling, I'm sure we'd have to tweak the fuck out of it if we did go that route but yeah just figured i'd throw it out there :lol:

Tek I think for starters that's a good idea. We definitely won't have to worry about spending for a big venue and not making it back or having a small crowd. We've got plenty of equipment and like you said maybe we could use a bit more lighting. What do the rest think? What are some good spaces we could rent out?

Are you guys still looking for a venue? I know a friend of a friend who runs a bar called 'Corner Place'. Its on the corner of Jarvis and Front. Not really a place for a massive jam but I'm sure the owner would be interested in bringing in extra patrons.
