Alright, I'm mainly a UK Hardcore DJ, so getting into trance shouldn't be all that difficult. I also play some hardstyle and dubstep. When I was a kid, I grew up listening to trance a little bit along with all that hardcore, and this tune in particular stood out to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDZcqR-62mA

I'm a subgenre dork, so let's approach this that way. Using simple terminology and lingo I know, my guess would be that that track would be "uplifting trance," but hey, what do I know. I'd love to find more tunes like that one; relatively happy, really smooth synths, and vocals that compliment the entire package quite nicely.

I'm also into darker stuff, and while I think I may want to keep away from psytrance what with all the hoopla surrounding it, this particular hardstyle tune exhibits a few things I may wanna play around with with my trance; dark basslines and epic synths.

I'm sure I'm coming across amazingly coherently right now, but could someone take that statement and show me a few subgenres/tunes they'd think I'd like? Also, I'm not a house guy at all; I'd quite prefer techno influences in my trance tracks as opposed to house ones.

[I just got home from the bar, going to sleep right now. I'll google all this when I wake up. BLARG.]

That synth melody reminded me of this track, one of my personal favorites from high school

John 00 Fleming's "Global Trance Grooves" is all you need. That and Christopher Lawrence's "Rush Hour."
