Hey guys, I was considering pick up this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/664470-REG/Audio_Technica_AT6012_AT6012_Vinyl_Record_Cleaning .html
But I'm on the fence about it. What is a solid record cleaning kit that will get all this microdust/static off my records. Whenever I pull a record off my tables, you can literally here the static pop!
Thanks a ton! I don't want a wet cleaner just yet, just something to De-Static/Remove all dust

My Tongue :P

When that don't work, Gruv Glide, tried and true for me since 96'

Also, what slipmats do you have?, that can be a big cause of static.

A good soft microfiber towel can clean a record with no liquids, as long as the record is not caked with dirt, then it can damage you records.

All in All Gruv Glide is a good investment.

Have been using this for a while

I've used Gruv Glide also, it's well worth it

Right now using a set of sicmats, brand new. Tossed my Vestax ones because they were falling apart haha!
I may just invest in Gruv Glide. Heard much praise about it

Sicmats are OK, Just wipe down your records down (just don't do the Old School T-Shirt and armpit thing..lol) and you should be good to go, but Gruv Glide is a good investment for non Timecode Vinyl

I really like this stuff, although it's probably a bit extreme for your needs: -

^Old School Cleaning Fluid - 95% Distilled Water, 5% Rubbing Alcohol and a nice soft car waxing sponge.... Gruv Glide is still my preferred method!

Gruv Glide doesn't clean anything, it's anti-static treatment and a lubricant. The surface dust will be picked up on your pads or pushed deeper into the grooves, and it will leave a residue on your needle. I can always tell when I buy a used record that has been treated by gruv glide because it will not sound great but look clean, and I can look at my stylus and see gunk on the tip. If you're really into gruv glide, save yourself some serious money and buy STATIC GUARD at a drugstore or home products store like Target, because it's the same chemicals with a different label. Guess which one costs more; the aimed at DJs and record collectors or the one aimed at women's clothing?

I use a bowl of hot water with a teeny-tiny drop of washing up liquid, with a well-wrung out cloth.

wood glue and some time - that thread needs to be rejuvenated for sure. Smash wasn't that your thread from 1.0?

I may pick up some of your Vinyl Junkie print mats or the DJF ones ;) Just gotta convince the girl that 25 bucks is worth it :D How good are they honestly for mixing or are your mats geared more towards scratching? Always nice to have a couple of pairs to rotate out

Can you elaborate on the wood glue thing?

Hey there again Smashy! You always have some great advice, so what do you personally prefer/use for getting all the dust off and removing static?

Great suggestions everyone! I'll come back and +rep later on
