- Tiesto was a good DJ and producer

- John 00 Fleming was on DJMag's top 100

- The only "vocal" songs were in the form of sci-fi movie quotes

Your turn!

I actually missed the entire trance scene. First and only trance show I went to was Tiestos Kalaidoscope tour (if that's trance..?)

Pretty awful I know. :hides:

Lucky for you guys there's still plenty of good Trance around, you just have to try a little harder to find it these days.

And to answer to the thread title:

...trance was no genre for it self. It was still techno. Just with a little bit more spacey atmosphere. Tiesto and co were still shitting their pants (or at least releasing stuff under "West & Storm"), and there was no supersaw ;-)

When Space Girl performed but alas... she's now an LNA I believe.

FYI if you don't know who Space Girl is... she would mix pre-produced tracks, and play multiple hardware synths over them live(I believe) Pretty good stuff last I remember, but I was 17 last time I heard that

I love techno, and I love the older trancy techno stuff before trance was around, but imo the late 90's and early 2000's were the trance hayday.

Ya I will be there first to admit (even being a die hard trance fan for many years) that trance has been really weak the past 4-5 years. 2012 is going to be a dope year for the scene but I have a feeling all the good music is going to be more of the "trause" (trance-electro house) variety.

..It was a form of techno and not shit, circa 95 is when the rot really began to set in.
