Yay,

I had my hopes up today for my supplier to phone, but yet again they let me down, after having waited THREE weeks for my supplier to get them in stock, I eagerly weaited by the phone but no call came, so I phoned them and was told "Our supplier can't get them until the 15th"

:argue: So as i've got a bit of a short fuse I told them to stick the order where the sun don't shine!, and forget getting any more orders from the club since i'm normally the one that infulences who supplies audio & lighting gear :biteme:

Browsing the internet while I was at work (I know i shud have been working but what the hell) I came across a company in Kent (about half hour drive) and yes they've got exactly 3 in stock and they'll hold on to them and i'm picking them up friday afternoon.

So pictures will be coming tomorrow (I know they're long overdue).
And as an extra bonus they are gonna sell me one for £290 and the other as a pair for £530 which works out as a saving of £80 as opposed to the price of my local supplier. ;)

I've decided never to use my usual supplier again, the level of service they gave was purely awful. And this will give you a good laugh, I was talking to their technical consultant the other day (he couldnt have been older then about 17) and we got onto discussing DMX, anyway he did'nt know what a DMX terminator was!

And HE designs lighting installations for them and faultfinds them :uhoh:

According to him, he'd never heard of a terminator, and that's a guy you'd be trusting to solve problems for you. I'd love to see some of his installations, I ended up giving him a lesson on why you must have a terminator, I just set the jumper on their last fixture on the demo rig turning the internal terminator off and about 1/4 of the lights just started flickering around and flashing, he did'nt understand why.

Yep, I would steer clear of that...

After getting stuck on the M25 motorway for around 2 hours and getting hopelessly lost I eventually found the place, and I'm now the proud owner of 3 Spot Knights,

Here's the photo's, appologies for my poor choice of carpet :)

They look great, when I finally get my website going I'll add a video and post a link (maybe in around a month). These things are great for the money, took about a minute to fit the bulds and set the addresses, all menu driven very straightforward.

The colour definition is great and the projections look very crisp and the gobo's look good, still hav'nt quite got the hang of the gobo shaking and strobing looks good, you can strobe between adjacent colours and use gobo strobing type of thing that also I quite hav'nt got the hand of yet. Still got to do the programming on sweetlight for them.

I'm gonna have some serious fun with these babies

Sexy lights :) How are you going to arrange them?

I've got to buy a better goalpost stand coz mine wont handle the extra weight (these are 15kg each). Gonna mount them sideways, (so if the pan & tils is all set central they'll point forward overhead)

Got a really good deal on these from www.djbox.co.uk I've got nothing but praise for this store which is in Dartford, so it wasn't too far away, they beat the price on my local retailer on quite a lot of stuff and the guy in there was really helpful and even sat on the phone, giving me directions on how to get there while I was driving. Now thats what I call a top rate store.

The guy threw in the basic handheld controller and a few DMX leads, saved me having to make them up.

Started programming them today, but had to give up due to my lounge being fairly small and having 3x 250W fan cooled lamps running made it quite hot in there after a few hours.

Just sort of had a play and they got some great features, strobing 1-7 flashes/second variable, adjacent colour strobing also variable 1-7 flashes/second, gobo strobing 1-7 flashes/second. Variable gobo shaking.

It's a bit hard to get the movements smooth under sweetlight as the default scene time is 1.0 seconds per scene and if you say do a full tilt movement (270 deg) then the fixture cant physically move to the position in that time so it will start the movement and then just go on to the next. This is really making programming tedious as i've got to keep adjusting the scene times for each scene to give smooth transitions between scenes.

Oh well, its taking me a long time but it looks really good so i'm just gonna have to persevere. :)
