May 26, the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend –just over 24 hrs after the dust from HEAR 015 has settled- phase two of the Harmonic double-header will be implemented at The Standard rooftop downtown for the second BASK party of the season featuring the prolific UK duo and co-founders of Soma Records – SLAM, as well as Los Angeles’ own techno/rockstar and Adjunct Audio co-head [A]PENDICS.SHUFFLE aka Kenneth James Gibson, aka Reverse Commuter, aka Cascabel Gentz (w/ Dilo), aka about 7 other monikers. Also on board for this aural adventure are local trouble makers and Music Savages duo DELINQUENT FREQUENCY, made up of Jake Patrick and Matthew Derham. The opening set for the afternoon will belong to recently implanted Angeleno CAMERON ST. DENIS, who surely got the party started off right when he opened the DJ KOZE @ BASK party last summer.

It’s no question that over the past two decades, Slam has not only defined techno in Scotland, but also cultivated many artists of note on their Soma label, then remixed everyone from Daft Punk to Underworld in between. The legendary UK duo, made up of Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle have travelled far and wide, leaving scorch marks on dance floors all over the world, touring Australia, the USA, Europe, South America and Japan. They hold residencies at three of the UK's most renowned clubs (Pressure & the Sub Club in their home town of Glasgow and Fabric in London). The last few years have certainly been the most prolific period in Slam’s career. Performing dynamic sets at many leading festivals including Time Warp, Mayday, Bestival, Glade, Awakenings, Glastonbury, Monegros and T In The Park, they have also played at some of the world’s best clubs including the legendary Womb, Cocoon, Rex, Watergate, Berghain, and the list goes on and on. Their Soma Records label hit its 20th birthday in 2011, which is a great achievement in any industry never mind the fickle music business. In this prestigious year, Slam was also nominated as the ‘Greatest Dance Act of All Time’ in the institutional UK dance music magazine Mixmag. As well as a string of monster tracks on their own Paragraph and Soma labels, this prolific period has seen Slam releasing singles and remixing on other imprints including Planet E, Figure, Ovum, Mobilee, and Drumcode.

For those who aren’t acquainted with Harmonic’s dear friend [A]PENDICS.SHUFFLE – get ready to meet face to face on the dancefloor! When Kenneth isn't in the studio wreaking havoc on his neighbors, he’s touring the world playing his music for the crazy kids late at night. His music is booty shaking, groovy, and psychedelic, and his performances are nothing short of nuts with his intense crowd interaction and quasi-aggressive demand barking, including the classic “COME ON YOU F#*KERS”! Ken is quite possibly the best in the business. He has released on Culprit, Leftroom, Mo’s Ferry, Resopal, Orac, Hallucination, Trapez, along with soo many other labels. Ken has tenor at Harmonic, and if you don’t already know why, you will when you see him play.

The finale to the HARMONIC Memorial Day weekend blowout will not likely disappoint! Doors open at 1pm with discounted admission before 2 pm with RSVP -which is required. Early entry is suggested for optimal poolside real estate! On this weekend of celebration, Harmonic would like to remember all the soldiers who passed while giving service to our country, and in turn giving us our freedom.
