The edge isn't the smoothest where the shadow is, but when it's the size of an avatar you won't see that.

Kinda hard to read the text on the record though, because of the way it turns to a darker shade.

I used the magic wand tool in Photoshop to select the main part of the image, then deleted the rest. You can also use Select - Colour Range - click on any white area, then hit delete, although that will delete all white from the image which may not be what you want. Then save it in a format that supports transparency, such as PNG.

I dunno man. I'm no designer, haha. I know some of the basics of Photoshop but that's it. For a basic design like that, you could do with someone that has a good eye for fonts to help you out. Obviously it also has to be easily readable at 100 x 100 if you're going to use it as an avatar on here.

Yeah I agree, it does look much better across the record and definitely more readable! I'll save every one of these, thanks guys! Now I gotta find a good lookin font.
