So I just finished my new DJ table (write-up and pix soon to follow) and considering it's all black I decided to give it a little character. I remembered a few years ago when I posted up my remote-fader, somebody commented how cool it was that I made it out of a Fossil watch tin so that's what I used for this project. I was using Littlites goos-neck lamps with TNC to BNC connectors and figured they'd make a great base. Because the tin is so flimsy I had to cut and drill a square piece of steel and attach it to the underside of the lid to reinforce it.

Here's one of the tins with the BNC female connector, power connectors (2 for power pass-though), and on/off switch.

I also had to add some weight to it to keep it stable so I filled it with rocks.:teef:

Originally I was just going to make power connectors with regular wires (see previous pic) but thought they'd be unsightly, so I found flexible goose-neck tubing to use instead. I got these at my local computer shop for about 2 bucks each and gutted them.

Now with soldered power connectors:

I was linking up 5 lights so I made a central power hub / switch:

Cool stuff man! but seems like a lot of work for something so simple? What was the built time and cost of everything if you don't mind me asking?

^^^

It's way over-kill for sure. But I had a vision for my table in my head and I stuck to it. I really wanted the whole thing to be something special and I think I accomplished that.

Each one took about 2-3 hours to make at a cost of about 6-7 dollars a piece (not including the goose-necks they were 50$ total). I got the tins for free. I went to a couple of Fossil stores and asked to buy a few and luckily for me they can't charge for them and so they just gave them to me. I wasn't about to argue!:D

Nice custom lighting for sure. Me? I'm also into wanting to see WTF I'm doing, but went another route.
That route is just to buy 2 plug in clamp on work light sockets for $9.99ea BUT screw on $20.00 LED 8W bulbs.
They put out a sh*tload of light, not hot to the touch and pack away easy into a gig bag. Only drawback is that
at least one CDJ case has to have a power strip. I put a power strip into each of the cases to avoid that sh*tload of
power cable look.

What supplies would one procure in order to build these? I often need a light and my lamp is too far away, this seems nice.

If you want to go the diy route like myself, then the first thing you would need is a goose-neck light with out base, the appropriate connector for it, on/off switch, a panel-mount power jack and a power adapter with the required voltage - mine was 12 volt. Of coarse you can always just keep it simple and buy one like this from Ikea or elsewhere.
